Anyone have any luck getting any cash back on buying tickets through Orbitz or Expedia via ebates.com? That's what I did last time.

I went over there to look and honestly, ebates confuses me. It never seems to be specific on what you get cash back on.

Anyone tried it lately?

It's been a couple of years since I've seen any cash back on activities that would apply to DL tickets. Back in 2014 I got a whooping 20% back through Orbitz/Ebates which saved me a bundle on tickets for my family, but unfortunately I haven't seen deals like that in a long time. LMT club currently has the best ticket prices.

1.5% I would guess. Generally, I think it's better to figure out a way to get discounted Disney Gift Cards and buy them on the Disneyland website.

If you go to the ebates website and go to the Orbitz section, they tell you how much cash back you get based on category:

-----

Cash Back Terms
  • 7.0% Cash Back on Cruises
  • 2.0% Cash Back on Packages
  • 1.5% Cash Back on Hotels, Activities, Car Rentals
  • $1.50 Cash Back per Air Ticket
Exclusions: Cash Back is not available on insurance, travel services and third party fees.

Special Terms: Use of coupon/promotional codes not listed on Ebates may void Cash Back. Orders redeeming Orbucks will earn Cash Back on the order total after redemption.

----

Disneyland tickets show up under "Activities".

Does you have to pay to join LMT?

How do you get discounted Disney gift cards??

Current code for free Last Minute Travel Club membership is WELOVEYOU.

On Ebates it says that "activities" (Disneyland activities falls under this category) on Orbitz are only 1.5% right now.

I believe there is a dedicated thread somewhere for Disney Gift Cards. I specifically use my AmEx Blue Cash (the old version) credit card to buy Disney Gift Cards at Safeway (if you're not from the West Coast, this is a large grocery store chain here). My credit card gives me 5% cashback at grocery stores, and you also get Gas credits from Safeway worth about 3% (for me anyway, you can stretch them out a lot more but it's a lot of hassle). I believe you can buy them on BJs at http://www.bjs.com/1---disney-gift-card.product.287853 . $95 for $100 card with free shipping for a 5% discount, and last I heard it doesn't require a membership. In addition, you get 1% cashback there from ebates and also whatever rewards you get from your credit card. There are some other options as well, you can look for the thread.

I'm always stocking up on Disney Gift Cards to pay for tickets as well as any food/merchandise for our trips, and even use them to pay for DVC Annual Dues.

Edit: here is the Disney Gift Card thread https://www.disboards.com/threads/disney-gift-card-deals.2941964/ . You may have to start at the end and go backwards though, because many of the older techniques are no longer working (like Target RedCard).

Edit #2: If you really want to go a step further, you can open a Disney Vacation Account and deposit your Disney Gift Cards into your DVA, then use your DVA to purchase your tickets. DVA gives you an extra 2% back in the form of Disney Gift Cards, but it has to be open for at least 6 months.

I don't really want to sign up for LMT unless we really do want to use it. Does anyone know what an adult and child 5-day hopper would cost over there? I can't see prices unless I join.

The 5-day hoppers are $294.59 for adults and $281.97 for kids. That is a really good savings!

That is a good deal. So what exactly is the catch?

How do you get/redeem the tickets?

The turnstiles or to the ticket booths?

Do they just get emailed to me or what?

How far in advance do I need to buy them?

Sorry I ask a lot of questions.

No catch at all. You can go right to the turnstiles. The tickets are emailed to you and they take a few days to arrive.

LMT tickets are great.

I joined the club free years ago and have never been charged a fee (and still have access). It is my go-to for multi day tickets!

FYI- I have done Orbitz tix too (years ago, so it could have changed) and they are a pain to exchange at the ticket counter. It took a really long time for them to look up my voucher, etc. Like 20 minutes, which is FOREVER when Disneyland is right on the other side of those turnstiles!

So at the turnstile they just print us our tickets? Sounds easy enough.

I still feel like there should be a catch...ha!

So I am starting to sign up and it says there is a $49 annual fee. But if I use a code I'll never have to pay that, correct?

The code WELOVEYOU didn't work though. Boo.

When I bought my tickets rather than sign up for LMT I called them and asked them to email me their prices for their tickets. Then I called Get Away Today and asked them to price match those prices. I am more comfortable with GAT, and their ticket insurance is only $25. Since I bought the tickets last September, before Disney's price increase, for this summer, I wanted to get insurance in case something came up and we had to cancel our trip. Sometimes GAT sends hard tickets...I just asked them for a email voucher, and will pick up the tickets at the ticket booth. No tickets to accidentally forget!

I should add I just needed to email GAT with a screen shot of the LMT prices.

Look on Retail Me Not, or Google for a free code! They are all around :)

On LMTclub do you have to use the tickets by the days you enter in or do you have until the end of the year?
