Hi,

Visiting a relative again and last year she purchased the Disneyland Summer Pass or Summer Fun pass for us, but I'm not able to find any info online so I'm not sure if it returned for the 2012 summer season. I'll ask her to check the supermarkets but does anyone know if it's available again this year or if there are any other current so. Cal supermarket discounts? If you're not sure what I'm talking about the Summer Fun Pass was a 3 day non-hopper pass (unless you paid more to hop) and the price was under $150, maybe like $118 to $130.

Anything at So. Cal Costcos? And yes she will be going to DL with us.

Thanks!

None of the disfan sites have mentioned the Summer Fun Passes, so I think Carland nixed those.

Unsure about Costco tix, sorry.

Usually the Summer Socal pass is announced in early June. So far there has been nothing announced for this year. Unfortunately, I think it's very unlikely to happen due to so huge crowds being drawn to everything new in the parks.

Would be very surprised if they offered it this year with Carsland. Normally it would already be announced, so highly doubtful we will see any discounts this summer. Sorry OP!

No more summer passes, and they are only valid for SoCal residents, irregardless if a SoCal resident buy them for you. This year Disney has stepped up enforcement and started taking ID matching/signing tickets a lot more common, but there aren't SoCal deals anymore. Maybe in the late winter, again, though.

You still can give ticket and APs away, despite where you live or where the people you give to them live.

A SoCal ticket may appear in the Fall, that's my guess since they haven't done one this Summer.

Disney is now offering the single park multi day passes, so that could be another reason this was not brought back. In the past all the multi day tickets were automatically hoppers.

I noticed this at the gates this last trip. I mean I've seen it on previous trips but it seemed this trip that if a ticket wasn't signed the CM at the gate would ask the guest to sign it right then and they asked for ID to match the signatures. I didn't see anyone get turned away from the gates. :)
I will say that I think this is good, if a deal is for a So Cal resident it should be used for a So Cal resident only. :goodvibes

Yes you can, but you can't give a So Cal ticket or AP to someone who isn't in the right ZIP codes. IE my ex-in-laws (who I am actually still quite close to, we saw them twice on our most recent visit) can't buy me a So Cal AP or the girls So Cal APs. You still have to be within the correct ZIP codes as a resident.

We asked the CM who helped us the last time we visited and she told us that so. Cal residents can purchase tickets for out of town guests but they had to be present and traveling with the group. There's always been a debate here on Disboards about this which is why we finally asked a CM about it. It's possible CMs may have different info to offer but this particular CM did say that it was acceptable as long as the resident was present with the group.

Now so. Cal APs yes that does seem totally different.

I don't understand that. When they had SoCal tickets, the disclaimer about having to live within a certain zipzode was right on the main tickets page of the Disney site. So I called to Disney to follow up and was told I could not get or use them being from Northern California. It was clear you could not buy one for someone out of the SoCal area; that the actual user of the ticket had to be from there.

:thumbsup2 This was my understanding of how it worked.

This sounds like a classic case of "Ask different CMs, get different answers." I find CMs aren't all that up to date about how tickets work, unless they work at the turnstiles, and even then...

Found the blog info from last year. I bolded the parts that applied to this thread:

Southern California resident ticket: This offer is good for three park visits to either Disneyland park or Disney California Adventure park (one park per day) within a 45-day period, for residents residing in ZIP codes 90000 through 93599, and 21000- 22999. For $139, guests will enjoy three fun-filled summer days and nights at the Disneyland Resort. This offer is subject to restrictions and change without notice.
Yes, you can upgrade: For an additional $15, local residents can upgrade to a 3-day Park Hopper ticket that allows guests to visit both parks on the same day.
When you can get it: This offer is available for use June 3 through Sept. 5 and is blocked out from July 2-4, 2011, and August 21-22, 2011.

If you are not a resident, you can't buy them. If you are a resident you can buy the SoCal tickets and gift them. You can find this on Disneyland.com here is an example.

Can I order and pay for the Disney's eTickets on my credit card and give them to another guest as a gift?

Yes. However, your tickets become active as soon as you purchase them. The Disneyland Resort is not responsible for lost or stolen tickets so please treat them like you would treat any other ticket.

Actually, the SoCaL resident does not have to be present with the person they bought tickets for. My grandma bought tickets as a gift for us this year for our spring break trip. Since she lives in Ranch Cucamonga, she qualifies for the Socal pricing. She is handicapped though and would never be able to physically handle going to the parks. I called before she bought them just to make sure it would be ok that she was not there with us, and the cast member said it's just fine and that they don't check ID or anything at the gate. Just purchase and print tickets online and bring them right up to the turnstiles. And that is exactly how it worked out for us.

Now, I DO know that in order to get a socal AP, you do for sure have to reside within that area. Socal residents cannot gift those because you have to go to the ticket window and show them your id to get the hard plastic card with your picture on it.

hmmm this is not what we were told, we were told our So Cal resident relatives must visit the parks with us. And as I have mentioned in previous posts I've seen others turned away from the turnstiles because they had So Cal tickets and no So Cal residents with them.

you know what? this is exactly the same situation as the military salute issue...you are told on the website AND if you call guest services that to buy the tickets you have to have the military person buying them, AND that they will have to present military ID there, and at the turnstyle initially to activate the passes....we were told that a number of different ways but when we got to the turnstyle the military person was not asked to show his id for the person who used the tix...the person was able to go right in:confused3...i think it all boils down to who you get at the turnstyle...its a 50/50 chance that you will have to show ID....and the question should be...do you want to risk it????:scratchin

Oh lord, I would have pitched a fit if they would have turned us away after specifically calling before my gma purchased to make sure, and getting the go ahead from Disney!! They really need to get their info straight with their cm's! sheesh! :rolleyes2

I think you're right, it definitely boils down to who you get at the turnstile a nd whether or not they are checking. I know I don't want to risk it, I'd rather just buy what I'm able to buy and be legit. :) Otherwise I'd buy those military salute tickets from the girls' Grandpa and use those to get in. LOL

They definitely need to get their info straight, it's very frustrating to be told different information depending on who you speak with. IMO they need to simply follow the rules for the tickets they are offering.
