Disneyland Strike Authorization Vote July 19

You would actually walk from DLH to GC by going through Downtown Disney.

Not necessarily. With the new security setup, I would totally walk from DLH past GCH self-parking, cross the road at the light, and use the pedestrian gate rather than walk through DTD. The security lines were annoying.

Last time we were there (2022) you could not get in at the gate to GCH unless you were staying there.

I think you could get in if you’re staying at any Disney hotel. But when I went, I also had a reservation for dinner at GCH, so maybe that did the trick.

See this is why Im not a fan of the "what if they strike YT" videos

It has not happened in 40 years and normally it comes down to the wire and they make a deal.

Glad they made progress and like the poster above me said....Ticket and food prices would go up no matter what and I'm fine paying more if it means people not sleeping in their cars.

It wont be enough to keep people from sleeping in cars honestly. I mean really, is $1 per hour enough to get them out of their car? $2? Whatever it is is wont be enough. Cost of living is a national issue with no end in site. Its unfortunate.

Agreed

But if the workers agree to it, not my place to argue

Really alot of this comes down to we need more Single family homes, tiny houses and Condo's people can buy,
outlaw investors building property's ment to be bought by people to live in (they can invest in apartments),
and find a way too fine companies that make huge profits and share almost nothing with the people working there.

Food prices already went up this week.
It and everything else will continue to increase as long as they keep raising wages without going after what is causing the cost living to go up.

Who Disney?

Like Disney is apart of this, they are not paying enough regardless of the price of living without the CMs there is no Disneyland. Its not an easy job and they should all be getting paid more. Will it solve all issues? Nope but its still a piece

Disney raises prices every year regardless of CM's making more.

If you mean the Local, State and Federal government need to do more yes but trying to downplay getting paid more isn't good because we still have issues is to me the wrong way to look at it

We fly in from Florida on the 27th...so hoping for the best...not much else

I'm sure it can get close though, like side walks across and in front of Pixar hotel and Grand California. So it would bleed into things a little, especially if I'm over at the DLH and walking across to the GC for dinner or something. I assume the road and sidewalks are public areas.

Oh, I guess also I would literally be walking through them if I was walking up from the Westin (up between the DLH/Pixar and GC), I'm staying there the arrival day and my departure day since I have early check in / late check out benefits.

That’s kind of what I was thinking. We’re currently at the Holiday Inn at Ball and Walnut. I would think they could picket all along these feeder areas just before you officially cross onto Disney property. If they strike while we’re here, we’ll likely have to cross them. I have a variety of feelings about it, but I’m here from out of state and likely won’t change plans unless the parks completely close.

I’m also reminded of our last trip out here. It was late 2015 and I had a DCA CM try to shame us for supporting her employer. It was bizarre, but she struck up a conversation while I was waiting for my family outside of a queue. She went on for 10+ minutes about how horrible Disney is to them and how people like us that continue to feed the machine are part of the problem, right down to me buying merchandise and parading around with my Disney gear. There were no strike talk that I knew of at that time, but she had a lot to say about mistreatment and what they all do to get by. It’s a strange feeling…like I hear what she’s saying, but I’m also on my vacation with my hard earned money.

Yep, most people have some complaints about their jobs, and that's find and valid. It's find and valid to find someone to share those issues with. It's **NOT** find to share them with a customer, especially while at your place of business. I don't worry so much about crossing the line as being "the wrong thing to do," but them being verbally hostile, now a days everything gets amped up way more than it used to, and I just don't want to deal with that when I know I'm spending over $100/day to get into the park, over $400 a night to stay there, however much I spent on my flights and etc. Yeah I get it, that's exactly the point they're trying to make, how much I'm spending and how little they're getting, but I didn't sign up to hear it.

Anyway, I'm glad it looks like something is on the table that both sides will agree to.

Cost of living is going up due to profits going up and Disney is definitely part of that. Proves will always go up as long as businesses have to make share holders happy so employ may as well try and get a little bit of that profit back
