Disneyland Secrets

I have heard of the secret bathroom too. I've seen pics of it too- I think on this board in the past? Is it the bathroom in frontierland by the Mexican restaurant?

lol..If that is the secret bathroom..it isn't too secret..It is the bathroom I use the most....

The secret bathroom is in the courtyard for the Tiki Room next to the front door. The bathroom is there because the Tiki Room was originally suppose to be a restaurant with a bird show above you while you ate.

I don't know if the bathroom is technically in Frontierland. It's more towards the castle than that. I actually sent someone in there a couple of weeks ago. There was a big line at the Rancho del Zocalo bathroom, and a little boy with his mom was doing the peepee dance. She asked me, "Do you work here?" She must have thought I was like one of those characters in CA that roam around being obnoxious in the Hollywood area.

There used to be Mermaids in the submarine lagoon. Now I am not near old enough to have been able to witness them first hand, but I have heard its true. How cool would that be if they came back with the new Nemo ride!! Wishful thinking I know!!

Bumping this because a thread with lots of DL secrets is always welcomed.

Mermaids? What mermaids.....i bumped this for the secrets & tips. :rolleyes1

:rotfl:

Thanks for all the info. I'll be thinking about all of it when the family and I are there next week!

I think I remember somewhere in this thread that there was a Dumbo sign in Indiana Jones (cause the attraction is in that part of the old parking lot). I was there last weekend and asked a CM and she showed me the sign. It is actually an Eyeore sign! In that last section of Indiana, where the film is. it's back where the projector is, ask a CM to show you with a flash light.
FUN!:thumbsup2

Bump! :goodvibes

I'm hoping for more good secrets before we leave in 6 days! Yay! :yay: :yay: :yay:

Keep the secrets coming! :wizard:

Inspired by the other post :)

Turkey Legs are Pork! ;) ;) ;) hahaha, JK.

hmmmmm... i have more secrets that cant be told... sorry. :'(

In regards to the mermaids, part of the problem for the girls was the highly-chlorinated water. It only lasted like a year before they pulled the live girls out of the water. Before my time, it must have been cool.

There is a rumor that there is a giant "boneyard" of turkey-pig leg bones hidden in the backlot as they have certain "grunt" CMs go through the trash bins every night to find all the bones. The reason is that WDC is going to use the millions of bones to build a future rollercoaster, "Turkey Leg Bone Mountain".

Turkeygate... the saga continues...

Don't you just love Turkey gate...I'm tempted to create a theme song for the ride you suggested, but it might offend some of the vegetarians on the board.

this might be folklore but i've heard the issue with the mermaids was all the male guests who dove in trying to meet up with them.

i'm not familiar with this thread and i won't read it all, but... the famed marker in the castle that's said to be the center of disneyland.. it's actually not.. and never was. it is in the middle of the width of main street, usa, but the castle itself has never been near the center. the actual center was the center of the main plaza/hub itself. now that has changed with toontown making the center closer to the castle, but it's still not even to the castle (and i believe the marker is in the back of the castle).

and in indy, it's actually the Eeyore sign from the parking lot that indy took over

it's a common practice (at both DLR and WDW) to pay homage to the attraction that was replaced. for example, in the pooh attraction, you can find some residents of the former country bears. which i do have a picture of, i just can't find it online at the moment.

some of my favorite secrets about DLR?

- the evil/wicked queen and the golden apple (when it's there) at snow white
- walt disney's second window in toontown (fess parker also has a window in frontierland)
- getting a map of the jungle cruise river
- piloting the mark twain
- the 'foundation' of the monsanto house of the future
- the petrified tree (or whatever it is) in frontierland which was actually an anniversary gift from walt to lillian (who promptly regifted it to disneyland)
- the museum on the lower level of the columbia
- the only door on-stage that refers to employees instead of cast members

some other miscellaneous tidbits

- mainstreet usa is not based on marceline, mo and was never meant to be, it was meant to be a composite of those kind of towns. in reality, it's modeled after fort collins, colorado
- the matterhorn used to be in tomorrowland
- a famous story is how walt wanted to use live animals in the jungle cruise but was discouraged from doing so because of no control over the animals behavior (usually citing sleeping patterns). perhaps less known is the jungle cruise used to house actual alligators (or crocs, not sure) outside the attraction but people kept thinking they were animatronic and would taunt them.
- on the jungle cruise tip, the initial layout of the park had the jungle cruise on the right side of the park, not the left but had to be moved to its current position because of the vegetation that was left (mistakenly in the wrong spot).

okay, i had more in my head but i forgot what i was going to say

oh here's another i like. they claim it's pure coincidence, but...

Disneyland's street number is 1313

the 13th letter of the alphabet is M, so 1313 = MM, or .. someone's initials.

While searching for something else I stumbled across a great blog about old parks in Orange County and I just had to share it as it has some great old photos of DL

http://outsidetheberm.blogspot.com/

I have been reading it for hours haha!

what a neat blog! It's so neat to see all those photos!

Whew...just got through reading this whole thread--every post!

Great thread! A lot of it I had heard previously, but some of it was news to me, thanks! :thumbsup2

By the way--so the Indiana Jones stuff--it still works? I'd love to try that! :rotfl:

And are there any pics, of what to look for exactly? :goodvibes
