Hi

I want to do a SMALL treasure hunt/scavenger hunt for my friends for their first trip to DLR this October. I don't want anything that's going to take lots of time, I was thinking more of questions, clues that would make them notice small things (e.g. names in the Main Street windows, etc). It's just for fun and they're an all adult group. But I've not been to DLR since 2013 and I don't know it as well as WDW so I need some help please! Can you think of any things for them to see/notice that I could write into questions for either park (or even DTD area)? Any suggestions would be welcomed.

Thank you!

What about a couple of hidden Mickeys outside of the parks? You could throw those into the challenge. There is a hidden Mickey on the door of Vault 28 in Downtown Disney. There is a hidden Mickey in a grandfather clock in the lobby of the Grand Californian.

I have pictures of those two hidden Mickeys, in case you need to see what they look like when you're putting together the challenge.

Other folks here should have lots of ideas -- there are some very creative people on this board!

Look for Walt Disney's apartment in Town Square above the fire house. The light is always on in the window.

I bought two books that might help. The Hidden Mickeys of Disneyland by Bill Scollow And Lots to do in Line by Meredith Lyn Pierce. You might want to check those out.

Snow White's wishing well that sings back to you? Sleeping Beauty Castle walk through? Tomorrowland's edible landscaping? There are tons of cute details in ToonTown like talking mailboxes, Minnie's answering machine, other fun sound effects, and lots of cute photo opportunities including the characters and their 'homes'. New Orleans square is detailed and fun, with lots of stores and restaurants along with a Disneyland Railroad station.

Probably the best list I have seen is when the author of The Disneyland Story: The Unofficial Guide to the Evolution of Walt Disney's Dream described the area. That is a great book, and includes lots of details throughout the park and their significance. It is worth buying in paper or digital form for sure! There are a few pages about how they designed ToonTown and many more details are mentioned that I don't think we have even noticed yet!

I did a google search for "Scavenger Hunt in Disneyland" and found a ton of results. Here's the first one I looked at.

Thank you for all the advice. I did have a look at some online before I came to ask here but a lot of them are very intensive, or photo based or don't give the answers. And I feel I should know the answers in case they can't find them lol. They're good but not what I was after. I just wanted a few little things for them to look for or do as they went round. They already have a photo challenge for the whole holiday. Thank you for the ideas x

My Photobucket was acting kooky when I tried to get into my account earlier today. I will post those 2 pictures (hidden Mickeys) I mentioned tomorrow, along with 2 other possible scavenger hunt-worthy spots I thought of that you may want to include or consider. This way you will actually see them in photos and you will know where they are located as well, which is good in case your friends can't find them and you have to point out the locations!

There is also a hidden Mickey on the vehicles for space mountain. When you're in the que crossing over the track, if you look down at the vehicles, you can notice the Mickey. I don't have a picture of it, but it's really easy it was the first hidden Mickey I ever found. :)

With Sherry's pic maybe you could edit them somehow where it only shows part of it and give them clues to fig out where it is with the part of the pic, 2 things i know of in toon town across from roger rabbit there is a building that has a box sitting in front that says Tnt or something and you can pull the handle up on it and it makes noise also back behind there I think it is like an electric co building have them try to open the door :)

It might help if I didn't have so many pictures, spread out among 2 Photobucket accounts and many, many albums! I might be able to find things more easily!

Anyway, these are just some ideas that may or may not work with your scavenger hunt. I'm sure I could have dug up more, but we'll just start with these!

In the Grand Californian Hotel...

This is the face of the grandfather clock I mentioned. It is in the GCH lobby, on the same side as the gift shop. If you were facing the gift shop, the clock would be to your far left. I think that some work was done to the face at some point, so it could look slightly different now, but the hidden Mickey is still there. Can you see the faint outline? (I don't normally use a flash when I take photos, but the outline of Mickey could not be seen when I tried it without a flash on that specific day.) One of Mickey's ears is between the 10 and the 11, and his other ear is kind of between the 1 and the 2.

These light fixtures can be found at the entrance to and around the Hearthstone Lounge at the GCH...

Here is a distant shot of the Vault 28 door in Downtown Disney -- can you spot the hidden Mickey?

And a close-up...

Now to the Disneyland Hotel, Fantasy Tower. Right near the entrance to Goofy's Kitchen (inside the tower), there is a staircase. This can be found at the top of the staircase...

In that same lobby, and in that same location in the lobby, look up to the ceiling, and you will find these umbrellas hanging overhead...

This thread has been dormant for a while -- I need to resurrect it -- but it is full of photos of various light fixtures around Disneyland Resort. It may give you more ideas of what kinds of things you can add to your hunt. "Let There Be Light" - http://www.disboards.com/threads/le...-light-fixtures-at-disneyland-resort.2963634/
