Disneyland Reopening Speculation Superthread

I see what you mean, and I don't entirely disagree - but her answer (at least what's in your screenshot) is a version of legalese.

Your tickets are still valid, you will be able to use them, you will also be able to trade them for another ticket if you can't use them in that time. There's nothing in her answer that says that they won't require a different ticket to go on opening day.

They could have answered that question as:

Q: "Can I use my existing tickets on day one?"
A: "Yes, just book a park reservation when they come available and you're good to go."

I still think it's possible (and likely) that they'll take old tickets on day one. I've just dealt with enough CMs (and lawyers) to feel like that answer isn't complete.

I think the MaxPass answer just confirms that they don't have the details yet.
You’ll notice my original post said to take it with a grain of salt 😉 But it’s better than an outright no.

My question to them though was specifically worded about when they reopened and would I be able to use them to book park reservations or if I’d need to purchase new tickets to do that. In it, I said our expiration date had been extended, we had 5 day park hoppers with maxpass & that we were CA residents. If there was going to be limitations on it, she would have answered along the lines of “there will be an opportunity to use previously purchased, unused tickets” and something about not being able to use all 5 days at the beginning.

I agree on the MaxPass, which doesn’t surprise me at all.

Thankfully, I’m not going opening day. And it’s totally ok if we read it differently.

So here is another question... who just has to be there on opening day vs.. I really want to be there as soon as I can?
... I'll go first, I would love to say, I want to be there as soon as I can... however (judge if you must) but in my heart... I just have to be there... :tigger:my jealousy would be overwhelming to watch YouTube and see all the Vloggers' there on opening day without me and my family.. sounds so trivial.. but this year sucked... I need some Disneyland... and I am not a picture taker let alone a YouTuber.. just a regular family here

I'm with you. I have to be there first day. I would also be pea green with envy if I am not able to get tickets on opening day. I miss it so much. Like you, I just need to be there, to celebrate with everyone returning to the Happiest Place on Earth.
I hope we are both able to get our tickets and be there.

In my heart I want to be there opening day, but it's a school day and my kids have had enough disruption to their school in the last year so I'm not even entertaining the idea of having them miss school. We are eyeing Saturday or Sunday of opening weekend or holding off until Mother's day.

I want to be there opening day, but it’s not just feasible. My kids are going back to in person school the middle of April and the district has a 10 day quarantine policy of you going more than 120 miles outside of home. It was just cause too much distribution after just getting them back in.

I did think I’d be able to wait until Thanksgiving. Quickly realized that I can’t, so booked August. Then booked June. 🤣 Hopefully I can get reservations for one of the summer dates (June preferably). And yes, I’m going to be envious of everyone getting to go before me!

I was a little bit afraid Disney would announce the re-opening for Memorial Day weekend when I have a VGC reservation, because while I would love to be there the first day, after experiencing the stress of trying to get Touch of Disney tickets I didn't think I'd want to do that again to attempt to get park reservations for the first day/first week of actual opening. As it turned out with ToD, week 1 + Saturday #2 were already sold out by the time it was my turn to buy tickets. I couldn't take the day off work to try to get tickets, and it was only through the community of DISsers that I was able to get a link to be able to acquire tickets for Saturday #3 that we are going to (and I gave my place in line to another DISser who was able to get their desired dates an hour or so later). I had been one of the crazy Disney fans checking every hour if it was time to purchase tickets and got in line within minutes after ticket sales began.

So, I'm glad that we won't have to try to get tickets for opening day/week. Still slightly worried that they might release reservations for all of May at once and we won't be able to get reservations waiting in that queue. At this point my best chance of getting reservations is going to be if they create a bucket for those of us staying on-site, but since they haven't opened up non-villa Grand reservations, its a stretch of a hope.

I will try to get a reservation for opening day and/or the following Sunday. However, I’ve seen how these things go with Disney and I won’t be too upset if I’m unable to secure either. I realize at the outset that it’s going to be a long shot. Also, I’ll go home to Chicago in a few weeks and will return two days before the park opening. I’d like to have it settled before then (i.e. the question of whether I go or not). I wish us all luck. Many or most of us probably won’t get to go on opening-day tix. All we can do is try.

In anticipation for hotel/vgc reservations - I'm hoping they will all theme park reservations for both day of arrival and the following day -- 2day theme park ticket+reservation. Better yet -- legacy AP option for something of the multiple viist next 6months option.

I didn't even try to get a TOD ticket... How long were you waiting just to get through? I heard people were logged in when they first opened the queue and waited 5 hours to get in... and they I heard people just casually joined a few hours after it opened and got tickets right away.

Are there any tips you learned? Can you share how others can help someone? Maybe I don't understand what you mean.. Not super tech savvy here 🤔

It was a wild ride. This thread records a lot of the craziness. I got in line at 9:08am, and you get a queue link that you can share if you don't need it so if you lose that page, if you copied the link you still have your place in line (DISsers discovered this in the process of getting tickets, many of whom are more tech-savvy than I am, although I heard they were doing the same thing in some of the Fb groups for DL fans). Someone gave me a link they didn't need at about 1pm via a PM, I gave my link away at about 2p. If they joined a line hours after it opened, they must have been able to book any date, because a lot of the highly desirable dates went quickly (first week, then the weekends went before anything else). Unfortunately my party can only go on the weekends so I was very grateful to those who figured out how to share those queue links.

OC officially moved to Orange tier and our official numbers are VERY close already to what Yellow tier will be once 4 million vaccines are administered in Quartile 1. We are close, only needing about 500K more doses administered.

Case rate is 2.8 per 100k, test positivity is 1.7% and Health equity quartile is 2.6%. Case rate and HEQ % need to move below 2 and 2.2, respectively. It seems do able!

Went to DtD today. Social distancing, what? It was PACKED. It was absolutely impossible to maintain a 6 ft distance anywhere, although it didn't really bother me. Just want people to be prepared. Spring break crowds have definitely arrived. This was also still technically a "red tier" day too, since OC didn't get officially moved to Orange tier until just after noon. I'm glad we went today because starting tomorrow it's going to just be more crowded. Although, it will be nice to have more people in the stores because waiting in lines for every major store was annoying.

I really want to go day 1 but on speculation booked a room at the Tropicana for 5/4 - 5/8. Hoping I can get reservations for those dates.

Also, I bought 3-day park hoppers through UT. If I use those tickets but can't use the PH, what happens to the extra cost? Do I eat it, would UT refund that portion? So many questions!

I wonder how capacity for the stores will be going forward in Orange tier? Technically retail can be at 100% capacity in Orange tier...
