So it sounds like it’s possible the state may let theme parks open to out of state in Orange, but it’s not for sure yet. That’s a good development to watch!
I think it will depend on how the entire state does, because they will need to drop the travel advisory, and it can't be done for individual counties. So, I think if a few more counties get their act together (like mine) they may drop the travel advisory. So it sounds like it’s possible the state may let theme parks open to out of state in Orange, but it’s not for sure yet. This sounds like the most likely scenario. I bet the governor will keep the travel advisory until some specified percentage of counties in the state are in Orange or Yellow and we aren't seeing a rise in cases.
For example, a friend of mine is there for the week in San Diego and her family spent a few days at the San Diego Zoo. They're from Colorado but the zoo doesn't have out of state visitor restrictions. The theme parks also draw many out of state guests which is the logic in putting the restriction in though of course.
This is so illogical. I really want to be in the room when they hash out these protocols. At some point im sure a blindfold and a dart board with business categories listed on it is involved.

Agreed! There were 200 CA runners (and their families) at my nieces AZ track meet last weekend. So they can come here, get our germs, and bring them back just fine? I’d bet those kids all went to school on Monday! I’ve said all along it’d be much easier if the travel advisory was enforced in any way other than Theme Parks. But I’m trying to just let it go and not get too upset about it, because it’s so frustrating if I dwell on it.This is so illogical. I really want to be in the room when they hash out these protocols. The theme park rule is an actual rule that the theme parks have to follow if they want to be allowed to open without the state revoking their license.
This is why I was wondering if that's what's going to be dropped from the guidelines- rather than the entire travel advisory as a whole. Maybe in negotiations they're arguing in for it to apply in the red tier but doesn't for orange/yellow?
Same with that 120 mile limit too... what if behind the scenes the state wants to implement that for orange and yellow too? Can you imagine the nightmare that'd be for theme parks to regulate? What if you lived 121 miles away but aren't allowed in? Ooof. Makes me really curious what's going on behind closed doors.![]()
As far as I know, there is no 120 mile limit for theme park visitors in Red tier. THAT part is just a recommendation from the state to the PEOPLE who will be traveling to the theme parks from within the state. The theme parks just have to limit admission to CA residents in Red tier.
I think the only place we've even seen that 120 mile limit mentioned was on Legoland's website, right? So strange.
Seems like things might still be up in the air as they finalize it all.
Edit: Yeah, here is where it's mentioned.

Yeah they took a state “recommendation” and are peddling it like it’s a requirement. No clue why.

Legoland largely draws San Diego residents. That is probably why.
Legoland at 100% capacity is 14,000. So, at 15%, that's a whopping 2100 people allowed in. They can say only San Diego county residents are allowed and they would probably sell out every day. They just don't need to open it up, so they are likely restricting it because they can.
Can we please not go back down this discussion rabbit hole again? This is the only thread still open to discuss DLR reopening, because this discussion has gotten every other one shut down. Let’s keep this on topic.
