Disneyland Reopening Speculation Superthread

NVM - having a bad day. I'm done.
Treat yourself to a "Calgon, take me away!" moment -- whatever that means for you: chocolate, favorite fun movie, favorite snacks for dinner -- just relax and have a totally non-DIS night. :) Then take a very deep, non-fire smoke-filled breath and get ready for all the drama and fun coming our way this week! Have a good night off. :)

The difference I see is people don't (in general) travel across the country to visit a local zoo or museums.
I disagree. We have traveled to San Diego to see the zoo and thousands of people travel to where I live each year to visit museums. People travel to a destination and see the sights that are local to that destination.

Please spread the word!
From today's MP DLR Update (10/05/20):

Help for impacted CMs
With tens of thousands of Disney cast members facing layoff, Disney fans are asking what they can do to help. Rather than try to recreate the wheel, we want to share some existing efforts.

The Disney Tourist Blog has set up a fundraising page to benefit the Second Harvest Food Bank of Central Florida, which at press time has raised over $30,000. You can donate at this link.

A Walt Disney World cast member has founded the Cast Member Pantry in Orlando to help her fellow CMs during furlough. The group announced this weekend that a sister operation will soon be up and running in Anaheim. You can contribute via the group's Amazon wish list.

Second Harvest Food Bank of Orange County operates hundreds of distribution sites each week. To find a distribution site, or to make a donation, visit their website.

If you know of other organizations that are specifically helping Disney cast members, please drop us a line and we'll help spread the word.

Well I made the decision and booked Disney World for my Disneyland dates. My local news said that Newsom has a special announcement today. They didn't say what it was or if it is theme parks but gives me hope.

Oh pleaaaaaaaaaase let this be something. I'm wasting away over here lol! I decided we were going to give it one more week before switching to WDW.

If that were the case, then zoos, aquariums, and museums in CA wouldn't have reduced capacity. For example, when we went to the San Diego Zoo in July a week or 2 after it reopened, there was reduced capacity. It was first come, first served. They counted how many people entered. And if they reached capacity, then you'd have to wait for others to leave before you could go in. All of the popular animal exhibits (the orangutans and gorillas, for example) had markers on the ground where you & your family group were to stand and it was far apart from other ground markers.

At the Bowers Museum, for example, which right now has a Disney Archives exhibit, you have to select an entry time.
I think that Olafgypsy was talking about the proposed 120 miles travel distance requirement, not the personal distance one once you're there (I don't like the term "social distance," because I passionately believe that we can be physically apart but still caring about and supporting each other). I was wondering about the post you quoted at first, too, and then realized that, in context of this discussion, "distance" could be read as other, and reading it as "travel distance" seemed to make more sense. Sorry, Olafgypsy, if I misread/misrepresent you. ❤

Happy Monday all! Intentionally stayed away from all theme park news this weekend and it felt good! Back in the game today and hoping for an update.

I always thought that the 120 mile thing was from DLR to help them. They have such a large passholder base and it is going to be impossible to get them all in with the capacity limits and reservation system so cut out many with a distance limit.

To me everything will be a lot more palatable if they follow TDR's path and your pass doesn't "start" again until restrictions are lifted. Make tickets be the only way to gain entry for the first few months.
