Disneyland Reopening Speculation Superthread

Can vs legally are two different things. State has first say in minimal restrictions, County has second say. County can be more severe in restrictions if they wanted to; but cannot be more relaxed. -- for example SD closed bars ahead of the State did back in July.

Places can simply open and ignore all the above and risk law enforcement.

Smaller establishments, churches, private schools have defied restrictions, but enforcement has been variable.

Disney clearly won't do that. Still hoping for a mid-sept surprise :)

Governor Newsom mentioned that if ICUs and hospitalizations remain trending down and we can get below 5% positivity rate (currently at 6.3 for 7 day average) for 14-21 days then we can have some modifications to the stay at home order again in his press conference just now.
Omg yessssssssssssssss. Let's hope they keep going down.

I believe when we first began modifying the stay at home orders the state was at 4% so that makes sense.

My fellow Californians knew this was coming... Take what you think you know about reopening CA businesses and throw it threw the nearest window! The new guidelines will be released “next week” for economic sectors. Only idea of what it might contain is there could be waiting times of up to 3 weeks instead of 2 depending on the sector. Link (Deadline)

No, they cannot independently make that call. That is what the Health Officer was referring to. They can't simply open those sectors at will once coming off the list. They have to get permission from the state and show proof that they have a safety plan and operating rules in place in a coordinated effort with business owners.
So your understanding (from your health officers information) is that the state is going to allow counties to be exempt from the state wide mandate on a county by county basis. Similar to what we did with stage 2 & 3 openings?
Interesting. Makes sense I guess. Counties that are doing well shouldn’t be penalized by those that can’t seem to get it together (like mine)

That'll be good news for DTD for sure if OC can open to indoor dining.

Hearing the new guidelines to be announced next week will be favorable to theme parks with a Sept reopening likely. Hmmm....

From today's press conference, that's what it sounds like. The state wide stay at home and closure mandates sound like they will be lifted and no longer be all encompassing, but rather county dependent, or at least the restrictions are being modified with the input of all the counties to create a framework that makes more sense.

Wow. Reading that really gave me a headache. It SOUNDS like he is moving the bar - AGAIN. I see the reasoning - what's one more week? Does anyone know if DL has been outfitted with the 6' lines and such like WDW has? That could be an indicator. I am kindof hoping that OC gets removed from the watch list soon - really starting to need a haircut. Other than that, wake me when they open the schools.

... Someone reported (here or elsewhere on social media), incidentally, that Disneyland management is currently targeting for a November reopening.
If you find the source, please post!

Can you post a link to his press conference? That can help those following who don't live in CA. Thanks.

Where did you hear this? Please post a source/link.

Reminder: When quoting statistics, news briefs, politicians, etc., please try to post an official source or link. There are lots of people following this thread who don't live in CA or even in the US, so the links can be very helpful to them as they try to keep up with all the details here. Thank you!
For those who are posting the links and sources, keep up the good work! It really does help those following along to make more sense of our crazy situation.
Now back to our scheduled programming...

I don’t mean liberate Disneyland, but I do ... I’m one of those who has been trying to be “good” during Covid. Worked outside the home the whole time, but other than that, essential travel only. I’m going mad!!!!
DLR trip planned for mid October (cause I’m going mad.) I know Orange County’s #’s are out of control. I’m just going bonkers. Only have 4 days to work with including travel, so DLR is the better option. Left WDW 10 days before they closed. Now I am obsessed with DLR because it’s still closed ... and I am mad. As in The Hatter. Ok, rant over ...
