Disneyland Reopening Speculation Superthread

That was one thing I loved. Went to WDW in January. We took a red eye and landed in Orlando at 6am. We had time to take the bus to our hotel, change, take the another bus to the park, and arrived to Magic Kingdom only 20 minutes after it had opened.

The last time I took a redeye flight east, I showed up to new employee orientation later that morning and literally fell asleep for 3 seconds while someone was talking to me. I woke up to my head falling forward and the person laughing.

Granted you were at WDW, I'd like to think I'd be wide awake!

WDW resorts use that 3rd party conf# to merge with an actual WDW # that links to MDX and their onsite reservation system.

DL will probably go off of their database of actual resort reservations which is what you hold. I wouldn’t worry. WDW is just different because all their various systems (Resort, tickets, dining, FPs) link to MDX accounts.

So are you saying that we might just have to put in our Disneyland vacation reservation number if we don't have ticket numbers in hand?

If you purchased a package, then Disney has the ticket info. That’s how packages in WDW opened up FP booking 60 days in advance of the tickets actually becoming active within the park entrance system.

Kind of a useless article TBH, but I never knew CAPA (a trade group that represents Disneyland, among other parks) even existed. At least now I know it's not Bob Iger talking to Newsom, it's this trade group developing the reopening guidelines.

The Sacramento-based California Attractions and Parks Association represents Disneyland, Universal Studios, Knott’s, Magic Mountain, SeaWorld, Legoland, Six Flags Discovery Kingdom and California’s Great America.

CAPA has been working closely with the Newsom administration on reopening plans for California theme parks.

“California Attractions and Parks Association has been in frequent contact with the administration on behalf of the state’s theme, amusement and water parks and attractions since Gov. Newsom first announced the stay at home order,”

This is for before the parks actually open though so I am sure it will change when more then the resorts are open

Nobody knows yet. The details of how the reservation system is going to work have yet to be released, but you can head over to the speculation thread for some fun conjecture

Adding to this, there's some weirdness when looking at the blockout calendar. Since this is the speculation thread (and who doesn't like a good rumor around here), Disney did something to the SoCal Select Pass and the Sig+ Pass to make it look like it will no longer be offered for sale:



Slightly moot since no one can buy/renew APs at this time, but this could foreshadow big changes to the AP program (i.e. no more 365 day entry, reservations required all the time).

Let's say you have either a Sig+ or Socal Select, and want to renew, I wonder if they would let you renew at that level? Sort of like the regular socal pass that isn't offered for sale, but is available for renewal only?

The page still looks like this, with no further explanation. Hmmm...
@midnight star: Agree and wonder if these 2 passes will become like the SoCal AP -- renewals only, and maybe replaced by a new pass structure?

When new ticket sales are available again, you'll see it posted on the first page of the Reopening Superthread. There has been no official word about that as of yet.
As for possible ticket costs, let the speculation begin!

Oddly, when I opened the DL app a moment ago, rather than “Temporary Closure of the DL Resort” displayed across the top, there was a link to buy park tickets. I got excited but when I clicked through, of course, I got a standard pop-up that warned that the park was still closed. When I returned to the main page of the app, the “Temporary Closure” message was once again displayed. I’m disappointed but remain vigilant ;-).

Any speculation? I am from the east coast. I had planned to go to WDW in August but between hurricane season, social distancing on buses, and no fp+ anyway, I am thinking of switching to DL. I have a reservation at the GC, but no tickets. I know DL is a locals park to WDW and because of the ease of getting there (less people flying from afar), it may be busier. Any speculation on how hard it will be to get tickets once the reservation system opens?

Sounds like IT is working away this morning -- people have been posting that the Flexpass was available for reservations on July 17th this morning, but now is blocked again. Hmmmm...

They're very excited over on the WDW speculation thread; there are other indications that IT may be preparing for a big release of some sort on that side as well
