Disneyland Reopening Speculation Superthread

I just think Disney wants to try and paint themselves as this victim, I think they’ve been given guidelines but don’t like them and it’s very smart for other theme parks to side with Disney because Disney has such a huge following. Let’s not even get into fans of Disney and how they are acting over all this which proves my point lol

...I think Disney, it's 28k laid off employees, and all surrounding businesses in Anaheim that depend on Disney are more of a victim than Gavin Newsom, that's for sure

I think this image sums up how it will feel when today is over, especially if we get "those guidelines" (insert whatever tone of voice you prefer), and after this week on the coronacoaster:

Is this a picture of you from the future? Cause I’m pretty sure that’s how it’s gonna feel having to Moderate this thread if we don’t like the guidelines 😂

Lol. That's when you set up a private Facebook group for everyone to join to get the rants out :) Just kidding!

You guys remember how Elon Musk opened up his Bay Area Tesla factory in defiance of the governor's shut down orders? Remember how nothing happened to him and the factory has been open ever since? He called the governor's bluff.

Yeah, Disney and Universal and every other theme park should just open at this point.

On the legal side after a quick search I see gyms gave suing a go a couple weeks ago so it looks like they'll be the first business test of this approach in CA. (So far those who have sued, churches and schools, have been unsuccessful but according to gyms' legal council they used constitutional rights/freedom of speech as arguments and the gyms will go after how orders were imposed.)

I'm not sure if this is entirely without risk for Newsom as an overturn of one sector's rules could make it easier to overturn others.

Let's start a freedom movement for Disney and other theme parks on Twitter :). #freecalithemeparks :).

I just had a theory this morning. It was CAPA who asked for Newsom to reconsider, right? Well, CAPA represents more than just the big-name theme parks. What if the guidance Newsom is releasing is geared towards Disneyland since they've been pushing and have taken the additional steps to ready the park for guests? The smaller-name parks, who CAPA also represents, may have problems with the guidance if they are not able to follow due to their smaller size. But this association has a duty to work for the best interest of all members, thus the release asking the governor to hold off.

Disneyland has not had a problem coming out on their own and disagreeing with the governor, so if they had issues with the guidance coming out, I think they would have said so directly in public and not through an association. That, along with a couple of other area hotels announcing their reopening has me thinking we (including the OC Register) may be interpreting these "signs" the wrong way. This leaves the problem with Iger, but maybe he stepped down to avoid the appearance of a conflict of interest in the issuing guidance.

Or maybe I'm wrong, but I just woke up thinking about this today after reading the articles and rumors thus far.

I mean aren't they the victim right now? Their protocols at other locations have been far better than any other place you visit. The CM's at WDW are relentless on you if you even pull your. mask below your nose or attempt to walk and eat/drink at the same time.

No they aren’t the victim Disney is rarely a victim. The CMs are victims, but I don’t believe Disney as a whole is a victim. Also the vibe with CMs is very different at both parks, I doubt the ones in CA will be able to be as firm imo. I’ve seen how upset people get in CA when you tell them to wear a mask lol

Are you kidding me? You really think Disneyland CMs are having a harder time enforcing mask rules than WDW ones? You've obviously not been to Downtown Disney since they reopened. I've been several times and have not yet once seen someone walking around without a mask on. Not once. There are literally cast members swarming all over DtD keeping an eye on people and reminding everyone of the rules.

I don’t think Disney is a victim. But what Newsom is doing is unfair to Disney, the cast members, the city of Anaheim and all of those businesses that depend on Disney to be open so they can survive. It’s not right and it’s overkill. And your follow up comment makes zero sense.... the mask enforcement will be the same at Disneyland as it is at DtD. You’re always going to have a few idiots who think they’re above the rules, but the CMs will be extremely firm, just as they’ve been at DtD.

Ok let's hope there is some sort of agreement this weekend, and they get released next week!
I just got back to my computer and was going to say that well maybe they had an emergency meeting last night. I hope that they are able to work this out during the weekend and get the guidelines out on Monday. Yeah, I have a feeling that their was basically no communication between the two. Now the cats out of the bag so they'll have to get it done sooner than later now. Hopefully they can put the kybosh on the weird distance thing if it's true.

You’re optimism is so cute. Bless your heart. 🤣🤣🤪🤪🤪🤪 I say this in a nice joking manner!

It’s better than Newsom plowing along and releasing guidelines with the rumors we’ve heard of restricting opening to yellow tier only and/or distance requirements. That would have demonstrated he’s not willing to compromise, at least the office willing to pause the release gives the indication some discussion is taking place. At this point, I’ll take it. It’s clear we weren’t getting some big, happy announcement today.
