Disneyland Reopening Speculation Superthread

I can’t read the Rumor and News thread on the WDW board anymore, so I’m completely ignorant of anything occurring at WDW. 🤣🤣🤣🤣
That news (about the Disney Springs stores suddenly closing) actually was posted right here in this thread by our own @hiroMYhero! The DLR boards may be small by DIS standards, but we are mighty! And we are pretty up to date on Disney info. :)

Really?!! We are flying United, and we chose our row at that time based on middle seats being blocked. I guess I need to change my seat so I'm actually sitting next to my husband?
My wife and I always book window and aisle seats. Sometimes no one will take that seat in the middle. Who wants to sit between 2 strangers? But if the row fills up we just ask that middle person if they would like to switch to either the window seat or the aisle seat. No one has ever refused because its just more convenient for all. No need to ask to change seats at the gate.

And in other news, just got this in my inbox...

“will be announced shortly” my foot

I want to know what their "lots to do" is when everything is closed 😂

We do the same thing. We've gotten lucky a few times and no one has booked the middle seat.

We sometimes do this on Southwest, but there’s a sweet spot on the plane... rows up front will fill up (faster deplaning), rows in the back will fill up (those hopeful about a window/aisle seat and fail will not want to go backwards), mid plane will be empty.

Trick is to a) look like two strangers, b) be eating something, c) look scruffy.

Yup, they didn’t notify me either. I was just bored (story of our lives these days) and thought I’d see how the seat availability looked and yup... middle seats wide open. We did seat assignments so we could have the far back row (logic was no one behind us- less breathing coming at me?) so I suppose I gotta call too to make sure we’re next to each other.

I might not even bother messing with it until we get Disney news since I might have to reschedule it all anyways... Unfortunately I’m working with the flight credit from our rescheduled trip so I’m stuck with them unless I’m willing to repurchase tickets and I don’t wanna. 😅

At least DTD opens this week- gives us some kind of news to read, right? Some small joy?!
This is our first trip flying first class, which was definately a splurge for us. I'm actually more stressed at the idea of having to rebook the plane tickets again than reschedule the vacation package at Disney. But I am relieved that at least it provides a little more space, seating wise, at this point. We actually booked them due to a Pooh sized family member, but the middle seat thing is a mess!

Unless I'm missing something I get the impression the same mask rules will apply in both Downtown Disney and the parks. Even if this is not the case they should be more specific when it comes to mask rules for Downtown Disney. Who wants to show up with something not allowed.
I would think that by the end of this week we will have much more information about what DTD's rules are (specifically) about masks and how rigorously those rules are being applied.
For anyone who visits DTD this week during the reopening, please ask as many questions as you can about this, take photos of or take notes on the kinds of masks you see being allowed, and please report back here! TIA!

ETA: No gaiters only a mask with loops or ties
This thread from this morning (7/07/20) at WDW says that gaiters are not allowed, but in typical Disney practice, there are photos of guests/CMs wearing gaiters in MK. So we'll have to wait and see what the rules are in DTD and DL/DCA and how the rules are applied/enforced.

First, does anyone know if Disney is planning to open dining reservations before Thursday? What did they do with Disney Springs?

Second, is anyone planning to go to DTD this week or next? I would love to go up just to feel a little of the Disney magic, but I'm on the fence. I definitely would want to make reservations though.

I’m going to try and go on Saturday. Hopefully rules are enforced! I plan to just walk around and shop. I’ll probably stay at most an hour, or however long until my mask annoys me lol

Disney hasn't even released a list yet of what places will be open in DTD, so dining reservations haven't come up yet. I think last week's ban on indoor dining complicated things, so who knows what will happen with DTD dining right now? Capacity already has to be limited and now everything has to be outside. We'll see if we get any official announcements today or tomorrow!

oh look, more theater...too bad temp checks don’t accomplish anything. can’t wait to see mask enforcement!
Well, if the temp check stops people like the family that brought their little girl with chicken pox (yes, the parents knew she had chicken pox and didn't want to cancel the/their trip so they brought her anyway, rash, fever, and all), I'm okay with that. But I agree that it won't stop anyone who is a/pre-symptomatic.

what the heck, that actually happened?

my hospital stopped temp checks after 3 days when we realized we were just causing people to bunch up together at the entrances and we stopped exactly zero people from entering.

I suspect this is more about checking a box, as in, “ladies and gentlemen of the jury, we did X Y and Z to stop ronyvirus.”

anxiously awaiting the DtD trip reports (weird saying that) for mask compliance!

We MIGHT go next week, IF World of Disney is open and if feedback is they are enforcing masks. I’m hoping for lower crowds on a Tuesday or a Wednesday. I want to take my girls and let them pick out whatever they want at WOD and I really want one of those Thanksgiving sandwiches from Earl of Sandwich to go. Mostly I just want to be in Anaheim again and see the magic. I’m getting tears in my eyes just thinking about it. Already planning the girls Disney outfits in case we go.

Sadly, yes. And even more sad -- the parents were pleased as punch about their decision. They were having fun. The poor little girl was crying and looked miserable.

There is a place in parenting hell for parents like that! My younger daughter started running fever when we were there in December and guess who got to take her to minute clinic on Harbor and stay in the hotel with her all day? 🙋‍♀️ Fortunately she only ran fever once and woke up ready to party the next day.

This COVID thing has forever changed the way I feel about staying home sick.... I would never do what the chicken pox parents did but there have been times my kids have been mildly ill and we’ve gone on about our business, although never on a vacation. I feel awful about that now.... never again!

I might go Saturday. I’m praying they enforce the rules 🤞🏾
