Disneyland Podcast Up!

Thanks for being excited! This is something new for all of us and since we all live in different cities, it's going to be a small challenge for a little while to find the best combination of recording methods and sound output quality to get it perfect!

If you guys want to hear more, make sure to support us! We have some great stuff for all of the holidays to come your way if you want it!:thumbsup2

I thought it was a great show! I listened to it twice. :thumbsup2

can't wait to listen to it this afternoon on the ride home from work. We are making our first trip out to DLR in a few weeks and can't wait to hear about it.

I have read some of the info posted on the DL board which has been very helpful, but it will be nice actually hearing people talk about it.

I enjoyed the show, but I personally think something was lost by not having everyone sitting in the same room. The flow of the conversation wasn't as natural-sounding as it normally would be. And, there were a LOT of instances where people started speaking and then stopped, realizing that someone else was starting to speak, and then we had a few seconds of dead air (and not just that rather comical bit at the end).

For future podcasts, I would either get everyone together physically, or make sure you go back and edit out all the false starts and "you go ahead"s from people speaking over one another and then stopping.

Other than that technical issue though, I thought you all did a great job!

Thanks for the comments about the timing - it's a valid point. Unfortunately, we won't really be able to get everyone together physically very often - we live up to 6 hours away from each other and Pete is in Orlando. Tony and I live the closest at 1 hour apart. See our dilemna...

As Pete said, we are playing with some new technologies to do the show and we are going to try stuff until we work it out. Unfortunately, there is that lag time between the video and audio that is currently common on all of these streaming conference tools.

Thanks for the feedback!

I enjoyed the show! It's refreshing to hear about Disneyland for a change. My only caveat is the one guy who spoke at a snail's pace. Every. Word. Deliberate.

So speed it up a bit and you got a winner!

My thoughts on the Disneyland show...

I just want to first say that I LOVE the DIS Unplugged shows and I'm very grateful for anything that I can get! I listen to the shows every week and this was no exception. I did have a couple of issues with the DLR show:

1. The audio quality was much worse than it usually is due to the video chat. (As Pete explained it would be) If this show continues something should definitely be done about that.

2. Since I only visit DLR every 3 to 5 years or even more, the News and Rapid Fire really didn't interest me very much. (Except for the report about the train ride) I found myself eager to get on to the segments. I almost had to turn it off when they started talking about Britney Spears. It's one thing to have to suffer through it on Glee but to hear how she's infiltrating the Happiest Place on Earth made me angry. Why should she get the ride shut down for her kids? I hope they made her pay a LOT of money for that. Honestly, reports regarding celebrities in Disney does not sound like something a DIS show would do....more like a cheap tabloid at the super market.

3. The segments were great. I really loved Pete's review of the Grand Californian and the rants are most definitely a favorite part of any show. The dining review was also very good. I'll absolutely be eating at Cafe Orleans the next time I'm in Disneyland. In the future though, I think the person who does the dining review should at least try one appetizer, one entree and one dessert. I was looking forward to hearing about dessert (it being my favorite part of any meal) and was disappointed to hear that the reviewer hadn't even tried one. I don't think a dining review is complete without a meal in its entirety.

4. Also, I'm not sure if the other podcasters normally do a Disneyland show but the dynamic isn't quite there yet. Everyone kept talking over each other so it was difficult to understand them at times. I think if the show continues that will get better each time though...

5. To sum up... I did enjoy the Disneyland show. I would love to see it as a regular show from the DIS as long as it doesn't interfere with any of the other shows. I'm happy to have another DIS show to listen to in addition to the ones that are already produced. However, if keeping this show means the replacement of a regular Discussion, Email, Disboards or Universal show, I'd personally rather keep the shows the way they are and skip Disneyland.

In any case, thanks SO much to everyone for participating in the podcast. I know it takes a LOT of time and effort to produce the shows and I enjoy them all. Keep up the great work!!! :thumbsup2

I agree the pace was a little slow with the one person but I really enjoyed all of his comments. There was a lot of substance to what he was saying and he seemed to really know what he was talking about and did research. Especially about the trains...

Oh, I agree. Substantively it was a pleasure to hear.

I hope that this is the first of many. Sure, there were some issues. It is clear that DLR team needs to work out the details so that there isn't so much talking over one another, but this was the first effort! All in all, they turned out an amusing, informative podcast. Congrats!

I have been asking for more on the podcast about DLR because I go there regularly and only occasionally to WDW. It makes sense, that it might be easier to have a separate podcast focused on DLR. Would love to see a once a month DLR podcast, as News and Rapid fire segments would not be as useful if it were less frequent. Anyone not interested in these segments can fast forward through them.

Is it just me or has Pete's mike been sounding wonky the last couple of weeks- even on the regular show. I dont know how a person's voice can sound both metallic and as if he were under water at the same time, but that is how I would describe it................

Just wanted to thank the team for putting together a great show. Because I'm a DLR regular, I enjoyed the news and rapid fire. I especially liked the Carolwood item. What a cool trip that would be! I'm on the West Coast and have never been to WDW so the regular podcast leaves me scratching my head at times. I still enjoy the information the regular team provides and hope it's filed away in my memory banks in case I ever do get to Orlando.

I know I'm biased, but I hope the DLR show will become a regular feature, even if it comes at the expense of another Orlando-centric show.

I totally agree.

I live 25 miles from the DLR, and go often. I rarely go to WDW, and though I enjoy the regular podcast, the DLR show was more interesting to me. I'm sure that with experience, the DLR members will learn to navigate the video casts better.

I really appreciate the research that each member of the team went through to give a very informative, as well as, enjoyable show. The information really spoke to me and I look forward to using some of the tips that were shared. Each DL podcaster has a different perspective, and I learned something different from each person. Personally, I liked Wayne's input, and the way he phrased his information. It was easy for me to follow and understand.

I hope that this will be a regular feature from now on. There's a lot going on at the DL Resort, and this type of podcast is overdue at the DIS, imo.
