Disneyland parking question

We will be visiting Disneyland in a couple weeks staying at the Ayres hotel in Anaheim. We will have a rental car and want to drive to Disney early in the morning. One of the days we have to leave the park mid-afternoon to meet another family member who is arriving that day. If we leave the park with the car and want to return in a couple hours, will we have to pay to park all over again or when you park early in the morning, do they give you a pass good for the whole day? Which parking lot would be best to park in? I believe there's a shuttle that goes from our hotel to Disney if we didn't want to drive ourselves but we were trying to avoid doing that because of all the stops it makes and also because there are four of us, it's actually cheaper to drive and pay to park, but if we have to pay to park again when we want to re-enter, that might be a better option. Suggestions would be helpful. Thanks.

You need to ask on the DisneyLAND boards.

You can re-enter. I've never been given a choice of lots-they have always had signage out pointing me towards a lot.

What the previous poster was alluding to is that "theme parks and attractions" forum is for WDW. The place where you see the description showing that is a place most never go, and it's the big list of all the forums here. Totally easy to mix up, given the name of this forum!

If your hotel offers a shuttle I recommend you consider using it. Even with stops it may be faster and drop you off at a more convenient location than if you use the parkade. We arrived before 9 am and queued up for paking last Sunday; by the time we got parked, walked to the tram, walked from the tram stop and made it through the gates we'd burned 1 hour and 20 minutes (plus $15 for parking). We used ART the next day were dropped right off in front of security in less than 20 minutes. I'd imagine that taking the car out and back for an afternoon break would be extemely time-consuming as well and be aware that there can be lots of walkling involved as that parkage is HUGH!!

PP is right-it does take time to park in the structure (or Toy Story lot), especially first thing in the a.m. I might opt to do the shuttle as well.
