Disneyland paris with autistic son

We are leaving on Sunday for 5 nights...really excited now!

On this trip will be myself,husband,our 2 boys aged 4 and aged 10 months,my mum and my mum in law!

We were in DLP 2 years ago but since then my now 4 year old has a diagnosis of autism.
I have got a letter from our doctor stating this so we can get a guest assistance card for him but not really sure how it works?

Also any tips or advice on doing disney with an autistic child?

Hi!

How exciting, just a few more day! As it's been explained to me, you just take your letter to City Hall and they'll basically do the rest...getting you the right card and will inform you where you can use it and how. We've always used the pass in DL and WDW, but it's a bit different here and new to us, so I'm not much help there either. Lol

Our DS has Aspergers (high functioning) and we've always found that letting him use his IPod loaded with Disney songs while in the park helps sooth him, and lessens the likelihood of a meltdown. It helps to block out the white noise from the rides and people, while he can still enjoy his music and the atmosphere. I know many use the noise canceling headphones, but we've never had a need for those.

When we see him starting to get a bit overwhelmed...a dark ride usually brings him back down...Small World, or Peter Pan seems to help center him and calm his nerves...same for us! We love Disney, but it's definitely sensory overload sometimes, and we need a breather!

We stock up before hand and give him a new pin for his lanyard every morning, this gives him something new to focus on during the morning transition, and commute from hotel to park and while we have to wait.
