Hi All,
Can anyone help me answer my MIL's queries below?

Meryll -if it is half board plus does that mean that it costs more than that if you dont have half board? Mostly new potatoes - can you have chips? The set meal doesn't look too expensive if that is the cost for people like us - can't understand it?? Can you explain for me. I would go there if it's not TOO dear.

For context, we were talking about Walt's and "people like us" means not on the meal plan! LOL

At DLP, half board and half board plus refer to the standard of restaurants included on each plan ie the lower-priced restaurants are on the half board standard plan, the more expensive priced ones are on the half board plus plan, and the most expensive restaurants are on the half board premium plan.

None of the half board plans at DLP save you any money over just paying for your meals once you are at DLP.

Walts is on the half board plus plan - but what you have to remember about the half board plans for table service meals is that you're paying for 3 courses - now at DLP most of the table service restaurants have generous portions for their main and dessert courses, so you could do all those restaurants cheaper than the half board plan price by choosing 2 courses from the a la carte menu, or in the case of Walts, going there for lunch and having the 2-course express lunch menu at less than 20 euros per adult.

Thank you.

But anyone can order from the set menus as opposed to a la carte, right?

And the chip situation?

you can either order the set menu or order a la carte. i have had the set menu in walts and it was lovely. me and my dd love going to that restaraunt. the food is always good and it is beautiful inside.

it is usually no problem to change your side my mam does this all the time. the only time we had an issue was while using the vouchers which are not worth the money but i think that was more an unhelpful waiter than anything else.

Good to know, thanks!

I was pretty confident it would work that way, otherwise there'd be no need for the prices on the menus! Still, thought it best to check :)

I don't know if it's still the same but a few years ago the "Meal Plan Set Menu" at Walt's was a different thing again from the set menus on the main menu. It meant that your choices were even more limited and is why, apart from the negligible savings, I haven't wanted to buy the meal plans since.
