I've just heard that I might be having a meeting in Paris in 4 weeks time(this still has to be confirmed).

As I've still got 12 points from this year I thought I might borrow some and have DH join me for the weekend :pinkbounc

Does anyone know if I can still get a room at this short notice? Does it just depend on availability or are there a certain amount of DVC rooms?

Thanks,
JJ Penguin

I'm interested in this one too, for future reference. So I am going to give it a bump. Please let us know if you do call DVC and ask them about it.

We're visiting DLP and staying at the Disneyland Hotel this July. For that seven day stay, it cost us 365 pts.

I think it's pretty much availability. They don't hold rooms for DVC. The only minor factor to keep in mind is that you must still have 60 days remaining in your Use Year when you make the reservation. If your points are expiring this month or next, you wouldn't be able to make a reservation. Good luck...hope the trip comes through.

If they offer to put you in a suite in Hotel New York, then I'd go for it. When we stayed in DLP, we originally had reservations for the Disneyland Hotel but they overbooked it and asked us if we would rather have a suite instead which was a more expensive room and they saw we were DVC members, I'm glad we took the suite for two reasons, one the location of the hotel is better in my opinion because it is closer to Downtown Disney and the other hotels because at night it's pretty spooky and dark walking from the DLH to DD past the train station, the times we were at the DLH for dinner and going back to HNY, I was very uncomfortable walking back even though they had a security guard at the entrance. And it was a two room suite, where there was a living room, sleeper sofa and a half bath out there, also a wetbar and then we had the separate bedroom with king size bed and full bath and since it was 4 of us, the kids had their own space and we had ours

The DLH was very beautiful and it is the entrance to the park but as I said, I liked the HNY and it's location better.

Go to the DLP site and look at the map, you can see the DLH is by itself with the park, and then the train station, and then DD and then the other 3 hotels, then there are 3 other smaller type motels a much farther distance away from everything else, which is pretty stupid, because there is no transportation from them, you either have to walk or have a car to drive.

Thanks for the info. I know the DLP resort so that's not a problem. I'll probably go for Sequoia Lodge as that's the least points.

Maybe I'll splash out and try the Hotel New York
;) 3 extra points !!

Just waiting till the meeting's confirmed, my use year is Oct so the points shouldn't be a problem.

I'll let you know what happens.

We just made reservations at DLP on short notice (less than two weeks) and decided to pay cash since they had no availability at the Sequoia Lodge and we didn't want to spend the points for the nicer places. We are only staying two nights, but for two adults for two nights at the Newport Bay Club with unlimited park admission (3 days) and free breakfasts + travel insurance, it was only $450 which I thought was pretty reasonable. A word or warning though, DLP does not let you make changes or cancellations without severe penalty if you're less than 60 days out! Good luck making your plans!

As an aside, does anyone know if there are any DVC discounts or AMEX discounts at DLP for dining/merchandise etc?

Thanks for the info arw76!

I'm not sure if I will still go if I have to pay cash as I have to use (half) the points anyway.

As for penalties, I have a comprehensive travel insurance so that shouldn't be a problem.

Re- discounts: If you pay for your trip with Amex you get vouchers for discounts, special parade viewing, free photo at space mountain, and a gift package (in Sept last year this was a foto album, fat pencil, keyring and watch with the 2000 logo) - see below from the web

Thanks for the info JJ Penguin!

I booked our package of two nights through Walt Disney Travel Co. and used AMEX so I am hopeful we will be eligible for the discounts. I appreciate you listing them all!
