I'm going to DLP for the first few days of October [3/10 for 2 nites]
I got a bit wise this time and checked out some of the events because when I went last time my visit fell in the couple of days between seasons and there wasn't much going on.

I have been looking on the net for some kind of guide/planner to let me know what is going on over the time I'm there but nothing seems available yet. Am I too early? Does anyone know if there's any sort of planner or guide to what's happening in October?

I'm also stopping at the Sequoia Lodge this time. It looked lovely in the brochure.

We spent three days there this last October 12th - 14th. They had all the halloween decorations up and had all sorts of halloween activites.

It was pretty busy though! Something about all of Denmark being on vacation and half of them showed up! We had a great time though and there was still lots to do!

Thanks for your reply. :jester: When I went last time I could see some of the decorations being put out ready but unfortunately was too early. :(

By the way, I thought your photos of Omaha beach were lovely. Di d you see the celebrations [if that's the right word!] yesterday?

It really brought a tear to the eye to see those old soldiers all gathered together for one last time. They were truly amazing!:earseek:

The whole place was decorated when we were there, main street had been taken over by Pumpkin head painters - it was something else! They put up the lighted walkway for Christmas too and put some halloween stuff up on it - the kids thought it was sooo funny!

Thanks :D We watched part of them (what we could with the coverage of President Reagans passing) I made it through Normandy with only a few tears shed - now I see the pictures and footage from Omaha and I'm crying like crazy - I'm blaming the pregnancy though! We taped a bunch of it from overnight on Saturda and started to watch it. DH and I always have fun when we get to see Bush and Chirac together  :teeth: Nothing like the French/American debate in my own living room!

I do love watching the old guys together, they are so humble despite all they have done that it just amazes me. :D

You are so right! Their dignity on Sunday was heartbreaking.
They were such impressive old soldiers. We had a box of hankies to hand it was really lump in the throat time.

We are too selfish these days I think to make those kinds of sacrifices.
