Disneyland or Disney World??

Shawn,
I miss all the planning also!! We are going to DL for our first time in July. People have also told me it is much smaller than WDW and why do you want to go there? I would love to hear your experience in DL. Wishing you a magical time!!:wizard:
Linda

Hydoguy-- Yes!! I am going to DL for a different experience than WDW-- that is why I am going!!!

Linda-

I'll definitely be doing a trip report. So far, the only thing I could "plan" was meals, and even then, there wasn't as much to choose from. I did add in a Knotts Berry Farm day, which besides buying tickets and transportation, that was it. I bought tickets to an Angels game, and we're venturing out to find Bubba Gump Shrimp Company. I've posted on here, and someone responded we can walk there. I guess we'll just see.

If we went to an all-inclusive-we-take-care-of-it-all for you resort, I think I'd go nuts without having anything to plan for. I guess WDW turned me into this beast! :-)

Let's hope I can figure out how to post pictures to these things!

WDW is an immense resort. Emphasis on the word resort. 4 theme parks, 2 water parks, plenty of extras like boating, fishing, golfing, swimming, and so many choices for hotels and restaurants. We typically walk approx. 7-10 miles a day when we are there. It takes probably 7 days to do it right. Epcot is worth the price of admission. I've always said though if they would have built Epcot at DL then I wouldn't go back to WDW. I love Epcot that much.

DL is so much smaller, quaint, nostalgic, and unique. It was built by a father for his family while WDW was built for the masses. I love that you can step off one attraction at DL and a few steps away is the next. Not the case at WDW.

Pirates, Space, All of Fantasyland, Aladdin, IASM, Autotopia, Fantasmic!, RDCT and Indy are all better at DL.
The Jungle Cruise trees and plants all seem more lush to me. Is it just me? It seems to completely surround you at DL and not at WDW. What I really like about DL is California in general. I love being able to visit Monterey, SF, Yosemite, and San Diego and bundling it together into one big trip. I love the Hotel Del Coronado in San Diego. I love the Pacific Coast Highway and driving it up and down the coast. The weather is always amazing. No humidity.

Splash, Epcot, Big Thunder, ToT, Restaurants, Resort Hotels, and did I mention Epcot? :lmao:
Have fun planning to me thats a huge part of the fun of going on vacation. We do countdowns on dry erase boards in the kitchen.

After being to both of them myself and I have been to DW more and only DL this year and last year I will say I like DL better as it has more in the two parks and it is easier to really hop over to the next park.

In Florida it is a task to hop over. As in going to MK it is a chore for us as we stay in cheaper hotels off site and hauling a power wheelchair with us so that is more loading in the truck and getting on a monorail and so on. Even using buses is still a pain.

But then DW is better to us in the reason the paths are wider and easier to navigate.

KCmike it is not just you, a lot of the rides in DL seem better to me too. But one thing I like at DW better in Jungle cruise is the dark tunnel near the end. Buzz lightyear ride in DL is better with the guns that you can actually aim as in Florida they are only on pivots and you can't aim as good with them.

Thank you all, for your insight on WDW I really appreciate you taking the time to respond to my post. However, after giving it some more thought, I've decided to take the kids to DL. Due to the most part of my husband not being able to go with us (work) and with one of my son's disabled, I figured it just my be too much for me to handle on my own at WDW. I'll wait till my husband can join us for that adventure.
However, the boy's and I will be going to DL in July:yay:

Thanks again, everyone. :flower3

WDW is fabulous . Went several times in my youth and, again with my wife only in 2000 and had a great time! Always thought it was waaaay better the DL..
However, Went again last year with my 2 sons as well 4yo & 1yo.. and was still fun.. ...But would have to say DL is much better for all if you have any preschoolers. Everything is much closer and more conveinant resulting in a much more simpler and relaxing trip. As I grow older I can also appreciate the history of this park. But hey there both have that Disney touch! ...My cents!

I agree. If you are on your own without extra help, DL is better. You are also close to San Diego which is really a beautiful city with lots to do. I love disneyland and wonder why it needs to be defended. I kind of think of it as Mike Mulligan and the steam shovel with DL being Mike Mulligan.

It sounds like you have been convinced based on the disers comments. However, not many have suggested onsite resorts. I have stayed at both Saratoga Springs and Animal Kingdom and highly suggest Animal Kingdom. To be able to step out on your balcony and see a serene safari filled with beautiful animals is an unbelievable experience.

The studios in AK come with a great kitchenette and we were able to order groceries and eat two meals a day from our room. It saved us money and allowed me to sip my coffee while viewing the animals. Enjoy!
