Hello Disers, you may be the only people who understand my dilemma

I only have funds/vacation time to either vacation at Disneyland at the end of summer or vacation the first part of December and attend Disapalooza. Can I get some pros/cons to help me decide on one or the other?

Disneyland would be 8/30-9/2, California schools have started back but Oregon schools start after Labor Day

Disaplooza is first weekend in December

Here is what I have so far...I welcome some more :)

Disneyland Pros...
No missed school (My son would miss a week of 7th grade if we choose Disaplooza)
Less cost (lower airfare for 2, less days for disneyland trip)
60th Anniversary upgrades and merchandise plus Diamond Days
New Parades (60th anniversary)
World of Color w/ NPH
Birthday month for both of us
Visited WDW summer 2014, will add some WDW days around PCC 6.0
Hatbox Ghost added to Haunted Mansion
WDW construction zones
Just my son & I

WDW Pros...
Disapalooza!
Dis Friends in town
Cooler Weather
My best friend my join us
Harry Potter land at Universal is amazing - we love both lands
Bring our Robe/wand from 2014 visit
Christmas Decorations up at WDW & Universal
Love Epcot year round, but especially at Christmas
Magic kingdom Christmas Party

Looking forward to hearing if I missed anything.

Is this the only chance you will have to go to either DLR or WDW in the near future? I ask because if either trip is something you could next year, I would probably opt for DLR this year (because of the 60th) and then to go WDW next year. I see some things on the WDW list that might not work in 2016 (e.g., bring robe to Universal because you DD might have outgrown them), but most things will be there again in 2016 (e.g., Christmas decor, MVMCP).

Don't forget to add the new fireworks show (Disneyland Forever) to the list of pros for Disneyland. I would also add that WDW may not be cooler than DLR in December (unless you mean "cooler" in comparison to other months of the year in Florida).

What is PCC 6.0?

Regarding your DL list:
DL will close early on 8/31 for an AP event. Probably 9pm.
Haunted Mansion will most-likely be closed for the holiday overlay, which is usually installed during that time.
Other than those two items, I suggest visiting DL during the 60th anniversary year.

If we could go we would go to WDW and do Disapalooza and Universal and then MVMCP at WDW.

But that is only because we were just at DL/DCA......this is a tough decision. But which ever you choose they will be a blast.:thumbsup2

What is PCC 6.0?

figment_jii: - PCC 6.0 is the Podcast Cruise 6.0 out of Port Canaveral in December 2016. Yes, we would most likely go to WDW around the cruise so that is why is in the "Pro Disneyland Column"
Yes, if I do not choose Disneyland this year, may not get back there until 2017 and miss all of the 60th special entertainment

True, my son may outgrow that robe by then, good point! He grew 2 inches in the past year! (he's 12 now)

I appreciate the feedback!!

I appreciate the feedback on Haunted Mansion possibly being closed for overlay - that would be a huge disappointment, I'll research more.
Good to note that DL will close early on 8/31 for AP event. Do you think California Adventure will stay open 8/31?

IMHO I would go to DL too! Mainly because of the 60th Anniversary, but also since you planning to go to WDW again in 2016. There are going to be lot of "events" specifically for the 60th that I wouldn't want to miss.

Whichever you choose, I sure you will have fun! Can't go wrong with any Disney trip right?!

It is possible that DCA will stay open until 10 or 11 that night because of DL closing early. Summer season will be pretty-much over by then, but the reduction in park hours is gradual at DLR, as opposed to a hard change-over.

Do both! I am busy adjusting our planning. I am reducing our amount of DL days that I planned. Thankfully held off buying flights and still have some flexibility!

Alicia, between the two, I'd probably pick Disneyland. Disapalooza is three fun hours, but there is so much going on for the 60th, there is going to be some really good things to see.

However, if seeing friends and going to the live podcast is a priority, and you can visit Disneyland before the 60th celebration is over you might pick that.

I'm no real help, am I? :upsidedow

Have you been to disapalooza before? If so then I would say do the dlr this time, but I agree with everything Mary Jo said.

...but since you said you might add wdw days around PCC6.0 then, maybe I lean toward Disneyland.

Thank you again for the great information. I'll make sure I keep watch of park hours.

Hello Halloweenqueen,

I did create a few spreadsheets to see if my budget might allow both :teacher:. Because I am already budget constrained from my Alaska RCL DIS cruise, I can only swing one more trip this year. So lucky and counting my blessings to get two great trips this year.

Hi Mary Jo!

Yes, you are a great help. Loving the replies! And yes, I did decide that Disneyland was my choice. I feel that with the opportunity to see many of my DIS friends on the Alaska Cruise, visiting my "home" park, Disneyland, during the 60th Anniversary year was more important. :earsgirl:

Thank you DSNY4ever for your reply!

Yes, I think your reply was the last one that finally pushed me into the "Disneyland" column! I completely agreed with your reasons.

I don't think you'll regret it, what a fun year to be in Disneyland! And I am particularly jealous of your cruises and other future trips too, how amazing!!
