Disneyland now allows same-day dining reservation cancellations in the app

This is great news for grabbing same-day reservations! But also people can now hoard multiple reservations and cancel them up to two hours before their designated reservation. Double-edged sword?

I just tried this myself and was able to make a River Belle Reservation for today and then cancel it.

This is fine for me. We had to cancel one day-of because a friend got sick after a ride. They were very accommodating and we had no issues, but it would have been so much faster on the app. It's also good for those looking for same day reservations.

Oh this is so much nicer! Yeah, people could abuse it, but I'm fine with that risk to have this added convenience.

LOL people abuse it now. All one needs to do is change their reservation day of to a later date and then cancel that one. I know tons of people that do that.

That is true but it’s hard to do that for in-demand restaurants where it’s hard to change the reservation day.

Disney doesn't charge people for no shows anyways. I've not shown on 3 reservations this year due to last minute illness and being unable to find an opening in the future. No charge any time. One of them was Napa Rose too.

Personally, I wish Disney would charge a non-refundable $10pp deposit on dining reservations. Frankly, I'm shocked they don't, as they'd make more money AND improve guest satisfaction.

Does this include show packages?? I have a reservation for Hungry Bear, if Fantasmic is canceled the day of, it would be GREAT to be able to cancel it. I only have it for the show voucher.

This will be great for people with parade/F! dining packages where the entertainment portion is canceled due to weather, staffing or whatever.

The terms and conditions are totally different for dinning packages and the dessert party so i would think not.

Really? No one should have to pay a $10 deposit to eat at River Belle Terrace.

Although I see your point…: less people would probably make reservations until the day of with your idea in place!

Agree! I'm specially happy because that new two hr window will allow those that aren't "in the known" as much as knowing some restaurants need reservations is being "in the known" to have a chance at getting a reservation or a spot at table service the day of their trips. More spots for everyone that join waiting lists too. I have no doubt this is a good change.

Completely agree. We’ve found that you can snag a decent amount of reservations the day before due to cancellations… but once the day of hits, it’s slim pickings. This new change will hopefully free up some last minute dining options!!!!
