So I read on Undercover Tourist today that the Disneyland monorail is going down on May 15 for a refurb. The end date is labeled as TBD. Does it typically go down for long periods of time? HELP! I want to be able to ride it on our vacation!

I've heard two different rumors. The first is that it will reopen on 6/16 (http://www.wdwinfo.com/disneyland/plan.htm) and the other rumor is that it will be closed for a much longer span of time in order to reroute the rail for the new Harbor Boulevard project. I'm bummed either way since I'll be staying at the DLH 6/13-6/16. When I was a kid coming to Disneyland for day trips I always envied the people who got to stay overnight at the DLH and got to take the Monorail to the hotel. The Monorail used to have a special boarding line that was just for hotel guests and even though hotel guests aren't given any special privileges, there is still something very satisfying about being able to ride it back in the evening. At least I really enjoy the beautiful walk back through DTD with all the lights in the trees and the different musical performers along the way.
