Disneyland makes parking improvements official

At first I was resistant to all of this change but honestly now I'm kind of excited. This is going to change the entire look and feel of the resort area. I know it is going to mean future changes for the rest of the hotels in that area since they are now smack in the middle of Disney property but that could result in a better experience overall. We shall see and I'm excited to see the resort area growing and adapting.

Oh man, we stay at Carousel a lot. Guess we'll move to Tropicana. We also park in Pumbaa a lot if we're only going for one day. No biggie, Toy Story is fine too. I wonder if the bridge will be accessible by everyone or just come straight from the structure? Seems like getting people off of Harbor as much as possible would be a good idea, that intersection is always a mess.

Makes me sad.

Carousel and Anabella are owned by the same company, and Anabella is on its way out in 2018 for a soulless convention hotel. Sad.

Interesting, I have a room booked at the Carousel in Oct, after the closure..

Edit: just as I expected, they are relocating everyone to the Anabella. So what's going to happen to Pizza Press?

I have a reservation for Carousel for December through Costco Travel. Haven't heard anything yet about where they will move my reservation

I got a call almost immediately after posting in this thread. I was offered the same room type for the same cost at the Anabella. A few minutes after I ended the call, I did receive a cancellation for my Carousel reservation, but no confirmation yet from Anabella. I assume they are working their way through the reservations. They just probably haven't gotten to December yet. If you are concerned, I would just call and ask to speak to Steve M. He is also here on the boards as CastMember 02.

I emailed Pizza Press and asked....they said plans are not finalized yet and all major decisions should be made by October. I am really hoping they stay!! We really enjoyed our meal there and were hoping to dine there again in November.

A long time ago, someone told me that they always stayed at Carousel and that I should try it. But it was always pricier than the other hotels around it, so I never got around to it. And now I'll never try it.

My fear is that with the loss of several hundred moderate rooms being eliminated, what's going to happen to the price of all the other Harbor Blvd walking distance hotels. I would expect a 5-10% increase on top of the typical rate hikes from inflation. Which will make Disney hotels seem not so much further in price, which helps them fill them up even more. All at the cost of the consumer. I wish that many years ago, I would've bought stock in Disney. They seem to be a lot smarter than me when it comes to money.

Carousel Inn will close in October.

I won't be sad to see it go. With all their hidden fees and nickle-and-diming guests for every little thing, it's the one place on Harbor that I have no sadness about seeing go away. And the crosswalk sounds like it will be really helpful. As far as losing any hotel close by... yes, I can understand the objection there, but with all the new rooms going up in the immediate area over the next couple years, I'm hopeful it will provide more choices over all.

A pedestrian bridge! Yay!! Now I don't have to POWER WALK like a BOSS to Captain Krudd's corner to make the Harbor crossing signal!
Captain Krudd's, lol. :D

I agree. :-)

I've seen the preliminary plans for the hotel that will be replacing the Anahaim Plaza hotel and it looks pretty amazing. Is there anything out there with more info for what will be replacing the Anabella?

According to Google maps, Pizza Press is in the same building as the Tropicana. It's not in the same building as the Carousel Inn. I would guess that Pizza Press will remain open and won't be going anywhere. However, the other businesses that are right there with Carousel Inn (Anaheim Scooter Rentals, for example) will be evicted once October comes around.

Will this walkway replace the crosswalk on harbor? If so, this changes walking distance for lots of hotels....

Oh that would change things and would make a lot of sense considering how badly peds block traffic sometimes.
Still, I'm not sure I like it...

If it's a more convenient parking lot for guests coming from the South I will be thrilled! I've given up on ever parking at M&F, and Toy Story is not ideal.
