We're planning a DL 2015 trip & looking at the first week of June. This will be the first trip for our (then) 8 and 5 year old. Seems like crowds will be moderate & prices will be higher, but I think its the best week for our work & school schedules.

My question is: Is there anything we will be missing out on by going that week-Sun-Wed (5/31-6/3)?

Or really, any big trade off we haven't considered? I think all the firework shows will be up & running by then (thoughts?), and most of the *major* refurbs *should* be done for the summer. Is there any other major downfall you can think of we should consider before booking that should make us reconsider? Would Mon-Thurs be a better idea or would we miss something big by not hitting a weekend?

Thank you!!

We went during that week this year and had a great time. The parks got very crowded during the afternoons, but that's easy to plan around with breaks, meals, or shows. Entertainment was running full speed after Memorial Day, so fireworks, Fantasmic, etc. were offered daily, Soundsational parade twice daily, and extra park entertainment and showtimes for the smaller shows. You can see the historical hours and offerings here:

Refurbs should be at a minimum at that time, unless the 60th anniversary causes small closures for redecorating and such.

Hotels will be more expensive, and you'll probably want one within easy walking distance for your kids. But if you don't mind taking the shuttle, you can usually find cheaper deals on the 4-star hotels further down the street.

Thank you both for the information!

Hydroguy: Your link to the historical grad night info really eased my mind since it appears they've skipped over that Sun/Mon/Tues the past few years. Lets hope that trend continues!

bakerudall: Thanks for the link & insight! I think regardless of when we go, we're going to try to get to the park early, head to the hotel for naps & swimming in the afternoon, and then head back in the evening in hopes of avoiding peak crowd times.
