Disneyland Jan. 2nd?

We just found out that we are gong to be in LA over New Year's. It is me, DH and DDs age 7 and 5. Given other commitments, the only day we could go to DL is Jan 2nd. Should we attempt to go to DL that day, or will we be overwhelmed by crowds? Just FYI, we went to DL/CA in Oct. 2005 for 3 days and covered almost everything at a relaxed pace. This would be just a fun "bonus" day trip. What do you think?

It will be crowded. But, why not? If you view it as just a "bonus" trip, then you should be grateful for whatever you get done (even if it's not that much). If you do go, I would strongly recommend getting to the park at least an hour early (yes, 7AM) because the lines at park opening are much shorter than say 10 or 11. Definitely take full advantage of FP (especially Roger Rabbit's disconnected).
