disneyland iphone app

I saw that some people managed to get that. :) Can you have easy Dis board access with BOTH the DLR and WDW version? That alone would make it worth having. Have you tried that?

Yes, they both connect to the DIS really nicely. It loads really quick and I posted from one of the apps yesterday! :surfweb:

Both applications home screens have 6 buttons: Map, Browse, My Itinerary, Disboards, DVC Calculator, and Setup. Of course the DL app have all DL info and the WDW app has all WDW info. :)

If you hit "Browse" in the WDW app you get the categories: Magic Kingdom, Epcot, Hollywood Studios, Animal Kingdom, Water Parks, Resorts and Other.

If you then hit Magic Kingdom you get: Main Street, USA, Adventureland, Frontierland, Liberty Square, Tomorrowland, Fantasyland, Toontown WDW, and Tickets and Transportation.

Then, if you hit, Adventureland you get everything in that area: Attractions, Shows, Food, Shopping, Restrooms, Transportation, Services/Other, Fastpass and Smoking Areas.

You can click on a specific attraction and up comes the ride rating, and description similar to WDWInfo.com. (I'm sure that's where the information came from. :) )

The map function is pretty cool too. It shows you the whole park and you can scroll around looking for things: rides, restrooms, dining, shoppes, etc. Different types of locations have different symbols on the map. You can click on the symbol and it will tell you about it.

You can also write or read reviews, add specific attractions to your personal itinerary. You can e-mail your itinerary to your personal e-mail.

The only thing I haven't seen is wait times. I'm not sure if they are supposed to do that in this app.

We also know that the Fast Pass system is already networked. It probably wouldn't hard at all to tap that for Fast Pass wait times etc... Then they just have to use whatever system they have to estimate wait times on the boards and make an electronic process to report those times if they dont already have an electronic way to do it...

Do you actually see Disney doing this??? Where would the profit be vs labor hrs and capitol expense?

I just downloaded the DIS Iphone apps: E ticket DL and E ticket WDW last night. I just read on another board that it wasn't supposed to have been available yet so they took it off again this am.

Corey said that it's not the finished product, but they are pretty sweet, you can pull up maps, find the restrooms, rides, dining locations, etc. You can much more easily access the DIS boards and post. It has a DVC calculator, etc. It has a itinerary planner. It's pretty awesome and it's not finished yet. Can't wait. :worship:

Where did you find these to download, through the App Store, or is this a Beta version you were given access to?

I guess they were acccidentally up for sale in the iTunes store. I just happened to read a post saying that they were on iTunes and downloaded the apps. Corey said that it wasn't even the correct
version. They were shortly taken off of iTunes. I haven't heard when they will be available.

Bought the WDW version of E-ticket when it was briefly out. The one I got seems glitchy and I can't login to the DISboards. The app says my username and password are wrong (they're not). The map works great after I did a restart. I'm afraid to uninstall and reinstall since it is not available, not sure if I'll lose access to the app. As it is now it's not worth the 5.99, but I would pay .99 for the map and if everything was working correctly I say it was worth the 5.99:

On a podcast they said it would not have wait times right now because they are so dependant on other people putting info in it and they didn't think they could do that better than what is there already.

They also said, once you buy it, all updates are free from then on. So, I assume if you got it before it was supposed to be released, keep it and the update should help. I suppose you could also let them know what your issues are, so they can know what problems there are.

Maybe I am way out there... It just seemed logical from the get go that if Disney was going to take the time and resources to release their own App and website to compete with these 3rd Party Apps and the user entered information that they would use the resources and information that is already available to them. With regards to Fast Pass wait times, its obvious the system tracks usage, times, etc or it wouldn't function at all. It would be hard to believe that they aren't already using that information so Management knows what is going on, its just taking it a little further and pushing that data to their App. If they weren't using a system or method that is privy to Disney itself to be more accurate than all these 3rd party Apps I don't think they would be wasting the time or effort in the first place?

What I have seen are the wait times that are posted in the parks are information sent from the ride operators to the people who acutually change the boards, so basically the system is still manual. Wait times from the aoperators are guesses. We posted our wait times based on the time we entered the lines til the time we got on the ride. We do not post the times that are on the boards because they are inaccurate. Disney does nothing unless they can invision a profit.

I use one called GotPlanS Dinseyland

http://gotplans.biz/

It was only .99 which is cheaper than the Walkee app and seems to have just as many features if not more.

All of these apps with wait times are dependent on how many other users are in the parks updating the info, but on our Oct trip the App seemed pretty accurate. It also gave me something to do in line. I could update times for other people, check menus and prices to decide where to eat once we were done with the attraction we were waiting for, chat with others in the park, keep notes, add reminder alarms to remind us of fast pass return times or shows we wanted to see, etc....

It was great. I thought it was worth the try before the Walkee app since it was so much cheaper and didn't disappoint. As long as they keep growing there membership base I don't see any reason to buy the other one that costs more...

Disclaimer: I didn't see a point to purchasing more than one app that does the same thing so I can't make a direct comparison to the one that the OP mentioned. Again I figured if the cheaper one was satisfactory for my needs why spend more to try others!! Maybe someone will be able to convince me to try some of the others???

Sorry I haven't read all of the posts since reading on a laptop with no mouse is a pain, haha, but I saw that this app was available so I went to go download it but it's only for Magic Kingdom. Is it called something else or is MK combined with DLR for this app?

EDIT: Nevermind, I found it. DOH!

Jack,
That makes sense with wait times. I was just assuming the fast pass return times were handled electronically through the system and could be tapped.
Thanks for clarifying what you know... Guess it was wishful thinking on my part.
If they aren't doing anything better then I am happy with GotPlanS, even if it isn't 100% accurate it is still better than nothing!

I downloaded both versions when they were available and I haven't found either glitchy, sure there are a few things I would change but what can you expect for a app version that wasn't supposed to be released. I'm quite impressed with the unfinished version and I can't wait to see the final app once it's officially released. I haven't had any problem accessing the DISboards through the app and I have actually posted to the boards from it. I have also started adding my itinerary info and that is pretty cool, all my info in one app!! I think when you see the released version you will think it's worth the $5.99. :hippie:

I agree when the final release is put out it will probably be fine, but my problem is RIGHT NOW I have an app that wasn't worth the 5.99 I spent and I don't know how to get it fixed. I have a trip coming up in January I would like to get into the planner and I don't know when the update is coming out. I realize now the app wasn't supposed to be released, but at the time I purchased I did not know that and spent my money thinking I was getting a good product. In truth, the problem probably isn't the app and more of a bad install but that doesn't help me any when I can't just re-download the app.

Why in the world would they make an app that doesn't work on a smartphone? I have a Blackberry Storm w/Verizon service and was happily awaiting the new app, only to find that it won't work on my phone! Huge bummer!! I am not too impressed with Blackberry so far, mainly due to my nightmare experience with the Desktop Manager CD (if you get a Blackberry, don't use the CD, or if you do, make sure you exclude Roxio Media Manager from you d/l!!). But again, why would they exclude BB from the Verizon app?
The smart phone apps aren't done yet. If you look at the site, it says
"The list of Verizon Wireless phones that Mobile Magic will be available on is expected to grow to include “touch” handsets and smartphones in the upcoming weeks."
