disneyland iphone app

I use one called GotPlanS Dinseyland

http://gotplans.biz/

It was only .99 which is cheaper than the Walkee app and seems to have just as many features if not more.

All of these apps with wait times are dependent on how many other users are in the parks updating the info, but on our Oct trip the App seemed pretty accurate. It also gave me something to do in line. I could update times for other people, check menus and prices to decide where to eat once we were done with the attraction we were waiting for, chat with others in the park, keep notes, add reminder alarms to remind us of fast pass return times or shows we wanted to see, etc....

It was great. I thought it was worth the try before the Walkee app since it was so much cheaper and didn't disappoint. As long as they keep growing there membership base I don't see any reason to buy the other one that costs more...

Disclaimer: I didn't see a point to purchasing more than one app that does the same thing so I can't make a direct comparison to the one that the OP mentioned. Again I figured if the cheaper one was satisfactory for my needs why spend more to try others!! Maybe someone will be able to convince me to try some of the others???

Thanks for the suggestion! I will look for that one.

Do you use anything to help extend the battery life of your iphone? I'm thinking I need to pick something up before we go. I keep wifi search off, but still I'm not sure my iphone can last the whole day in the park!

I don't have one, but its on my list for Christmas now. Any of these apps are going to be heavy on the GPS since that is how they track your location on the maps and also how they verify you are actually in the park (so they can reduce the amount of potentially bogus wait times from people that aren't even there, etc...)

My phone didn't die on any of the days we were there (we did full days from open to close and that was on extended hour days), but I did get my 20% low battery message all 3 days, and one day it died right as I was plugging it in at the hotel so it was close!!!

I plan on using and updating times in the App more frequently then I did this last trip. I will admit I didnt update everything this time. I got back and realized that I was doing a disservice to other App users by not updating more than I did especially since if I am waiting in line anyways its not really an inconvenience, it was more that I was just being lazy...

Keep in mind if you are using the phone for calls, txts and pictures too, then that will drain you too. I used my phone a lot to keep in touch with other people that were there with us and also to send pics and messages back home.

If you can afford a Battery extender I say go for it!!

I have both GotPlanS DL and DLP Walkee and used them both at the park during my recent 6 day trip; GotPlanS DL was updated WAY more often than DLP Walkee was so I recommend that one over any others.

GotPlanS advertises in the iTunes store that they have the largest user base out of all of the DL Apps and this would seem to back up their claim.

The more potential people using it the more updated it should be...

I downloaded gotplans. They upped the price to $1.99 but it looks like it is well worth it.

I love that you can see all of the menus too.

I think the menus is worth the price in and of itself!
Food is a main part of our Disneyland Trips and Experiences! :)

Personally, I think MouseWait blows them all away. I like its algorithm for calculating wait times. I believe how it works is that it takes an average for the ride, and then uses some type of factor to average out the reported wait times, using the most recent submission the most. Each report is scanned, and users are banned from reporting if they submit false wait times. They are also adding a lot of new functionality frequently.

I downloaded Mousewait a while ago and it just wasn't up to par feature wise with the others,at least it didn't seem like it was as fancy. Maybe with a lot of new updates I will try it on our next trip in a few weeks and compare it to GotPlanS.

Like I said before, GotPlanS was pretty accurate and consistent during my last trip and didn't give me a reason to doubt it.

However the idea is something in addition to just user input that helps bridge the gap when there aren't as many users there entering times sounds appealing if they figured out an accurate way to project and predict the times.

I got them both and as of right now it looks like Walkee has the most updated wait times. Got plans shows most times about an hour to two hours old.

Of course this could change given the moment it's checked.

I like how on got plans shows the times in colors with the longest ones in red. I like walkee's ride descriptions better, but I like how got plans has all of the menus and prices for the restaurants. I like the concept of the park chat on got plans, and I like the fast past timer on got plans. Got plans crashed multiple times which was obviously annoying but walkee sometimes took awhile to go from screen to screen...especially to the map.

That's basically all I've checked out so far!

It will be neat when these have even more users but it's still really neat.

As a first time Disneyland guest, it's giving me ideas of what rides we should do first and I think the gps in the park is going to be really awesome.

I think a neat feature would be if you could tie into other people's phones gps. So for instance, I could see a dot on my map showing where my husband is or when my son is older, I could watch where he goes on the map or find him, etc.

The DIS is coming out with 2 new iphone apps: one for DLR and one for WDW! :wizard::wizard::wizard::wizard:

They were supposed to come out 10/27 but they pushed back the data to make some changes. Personally I am waiting for this to come out!! It's supposed to be awesome. :worship::worship:

They talk about it on the DIS unplugged podcast on one of the October podcasts. They are going to be $5.99 and I'm totally in for that price. You know they will do it right!! They have been tweaking and testing for a while now. CAN'T WAIT!! :woohoo::woohoo::woohoo::woohoo:

Dh has DL Wait Times and MouseWait downloaded for our trip. We don;t need menus as we know where and when we are eating. In most cases we know what we are ordering too! :rotfl2:
What do you guys feel is the BEST for wait times only> Any extra features just aren't neccessary for us

I was going to post this earlier and didn't have time. They did say it was going to also help you view The Dis in a more app friendly way. I'm looking forward to seeing what they do. Even if I only have the itouch and not iphone. I hope there is enough in there for it to be useful for itouch owners too.

We also have both since they came out and have looked at the others. I like an app that is comprehensive so I do not have to look elsewhere. My daughters love them. They check the parks daily. Much fun fun for them.

still waiting for a Droid phone app. I currently have a Tmobile MyTouch...
love the phone, but I sure wish it had more apps...like the ones for IPhone and Disney...
there is one generic app for all amusement parks but when I was there in October, I seemed to be the only one doing any wait time updates. :(

The biggest thing I don't like about the Verizon App is that its going to cost you 9.99 every six months. These iPhone apps you only have to pay for once and then you get any future updates automatically. Even at 5 or 6 bucks for some of the current iPhone apps you are coming out way ahead...

On the other hand its an Official Disney Product. We will have to wait and see how it compares to these other ones.

One of the Disneyland related podcasts was talking about it being Verizon exclusive and said that it probably won't stay exclusive to just Verizon, especially if it is extremely successful. How long the exclusivity contract is for is the unknown. Another option is that Disney could decide to try to buyout one of these other Apps from the original developers or partner with them and tweak it to their liking...

if the app works then it may be worth the $$.
Especially if it is set up in such a way that you get updates directly from DL instead of from users. That way you could have real time updates with no need for many users doing updates....that would be exciting.
