Disneyland in October! Yay!

I had planned to take my oldest daughter to NYC for her 17th birthday in October, but we just had a chat and she thinks she would rather go to Disneyland! Great news for me! I would like to go to NYC, but really, if I have a chance to go to Disney I'm all over that. So now we must start planning. Her birthday is on October 25th and we've never gone at that time of year. How's the weather? Crowds? Is MNSSHP something that we shouldn't miss or is it geared too much towards the little kids for it to be fun for a teen?

Okay, now I really need help. I was going to stay at a good neighbor hotel to keep costs down, but decided since it's for Kid #1s birthday, and I missed her sweet 16 because I was in Afghanistan, we should stay somewhere awesome. I considered Paradise Pier and then rejected it. Not quite awesome enough. Then I considered the Pirate Suite at DLH, which is definitely awesome enough, but far too expensive. I'm torn between DLH and GCH now, does anyone have pros and cons for them? Is Club level better or worse at either? I'm seeing the fireworks display at DLH and really liking that idea. Is it as good as it sounds?
