Disneyland in June!

I'll be subscribing. We are planning a trip during the first week of June and I've been wondering what the weather will be like.

Good luck we are from the bay area where its hot but when we go to Dl in the summer we melt,lol...pack lots of tank tops, shorts, flip flops and u will be all good:) Be patient too with all the crowds and the new attractions that will be opening this summer..just use the fastpasses smartly and u will be good

Purple Crush, I love Ariel/LM too! ;) It's one of my favorite Disney movies, so I can't wait to be on the ride!! ;) We are going towards the end of May/beginning of June, I'm still trying to figure out if we should go straight to Disney or do other things first, we have two weeks in the area! My kids are getting so excited, they are teens, but LOVE Disney as much I do, thankfully! My daughter is a huge Star Wars fan, so she's going to be thrilled! Have a GREAT trip!

I'm looking at end of May/ beginning of June too, and glad to hear it will be a little more chilly actually. Wearing layers is much better than standing in lines in the sun, especially for DH. Hooray for tips and being prepared for crowds and all the help here.

OT: I have to post my happy thought for today. My best friend from high school just moved to SD and wants to meet us for a day at DL. We haven't lived in the same time zone for years so... :cheer2::yay::cheer2:

I was a little worried going in June, but now im thinking that I made a great choice! Thanks for all your replies!

Im soooo excited to go..I can barely contain myself :cool1:

OP we will be there during the same time as well! Thinking it will be June 19-23! so excited!
So I'm wondering.... do those dates fall into PEAK or off-peak dates? We will most likely be going Sunday-Thursday but not sure and wanted to check before I make reservations, etc. ;)

Some of both. Check up on this thread for AP blockout info:

Next June promises to be really busy with the new LM ride and return of Star Tours. If I had the choice I would avoid all unblocked days in June. If I had no choice I would just be as prepared as possible.

Sossy, we were there last year about the same time that we are going this year, and it was a bit chilly in the a.m., I always take these little pullover fleece "jackets" from Lands End, they are perfect to wear up until it gets too hot, then I just tie it around my waist, since they are so lightweight! Capri pants are good too, and if you can find the kind that roll down if you get cold, better yet! ;) We wore jeans/pants somedays too...it may be a bit warmer for us this year since we are going about a week later than we did last year.

We will also be there during that time, except the 19th-25th. Can't wait. Hoping it's not too hot or crowded, we shall see...

Oh I had read everything about the APs, etc but didn't find that last link! ;) Thanks!

I really need to stop over-analyzing my trip, but I have another question. We are planning to get to DL on June 1 and leave June 7. (5 of those days will be at Disney, the others will be doing other things.) I planned these days because I figured with California schools not out yet then, it would be a good way to avoid crowds. Also, I knew it shouldn't be hot yet. Now that I'm looking again and seeing the AP's won't be blocked (except the weekend,) I'm wondering if I need to push our trip back by a couple of weeks.

With California schools still in session, will it make that much of a difference that AP's are not blocked? Or does it not matter what time of year, if AP's aren't blocked and there is a new attraction, is it going to be packed?

The earlier you go the better. If AP's are not blocked that tells you it is not considered a high traffic time. Although the last couple of years who knows! I would try to go the first week of June and NO later. My school gets out June 2nd or something. Check out all the tips at the top of the home page.

I would stick with what you have. Just be aware that there may be some midweek grad nights that will cause DL to close early instead of being open semi late.

As Nanna said when AP's aren't blocked it is because it's not real busy. The worst things is when they come off being blocked. Last year at the same time of year lots were coming because WoC was about to open and it seemed APs showed up trying to see what it was about. But that won't happen again.

Little Mermaid and Star Tours if they are open, will bring lots of extra people, but this effect will last all summer so waiting a couple weeks or a month probably won't help.

The first week of June is a hard one to predict. And the crowds depend a lot on when Little Mermaid opens (now looks like Spring Break according to Al Lutz) and Star Tours 2 - looks like May. If these slip and happen to open late May or early June then the first week of June can be quite busy. If LM opens for Spring Break that will dissipate the crowd build up - especially of APs - in June. In which case early June will likely not be that bad.

Traditionally the first week of June is still considered off-season, with more limited hours and entertainment - which will reduce crowds further. See "Historical DLR Park Hours, Entertainment and Refurbs" - www.disboards.com/showthread.php?t=2291124

If I had to guess based on all the uncertain information out there the first week of June will have moderate to low crowds on weekdays and heavy crowds Fridays and Sundays. But that is just a guess.

If you will have five days at DLR - and you are aware of the off-season drawbacks - and grad nights - then you should just stick with early June and relax about it. If it turns out to be more crowded, then just make sure you have a good plan. If not, then be happy.

Please be aware of early June drawbacks. I remember last year an active poster on their first DLR trip who locked in days over the first week of June and then found out in May that their most anticipated ride (Indiana Jones) would be down that week for a quick refurb. She was really upset. She wanted early June low crowds but was not willing accept the downsides of early June - see "Choosing When To Visit DLR: Summary of High and Low Season and When Each Happens " www.disboards.com/showthread.php?p=36509602.

Perfect! Thank you all so much. I'll try really hard to stop stressing!! I'm really not too concerned about grad nights and shorter hours, I still have young kids and we wouldn't be closing out the parks anyway.

I can see being a bit dissappointed if something was unexpectedly closed, but that certainly wouldn't ruin our trip! We will want to see some of the entertainment things, but with so many days there, I figure that we can focus on the rides on the weekdays and the entertainment on the weekends, if that ends up being the only time it's offered.

Thanks for the input! :)
