Disneyland in early December

We are hoping to visit Southern California next year within the first couple of weeks of December. I have been wanting to go back to Disneyland since our first and only visit in Aug 2003. And since I love WDW so much as Christmas, I wanted to visit DL during the holidays. So, how are the crowds midweek in early December? We'd probably do 3 days at Disneyland and 1 day at CA.

The first time we went, we missed Space Mountain, Splash Mountain, BTMR, HM, and POTC and these are now favorites at WDW. I know they are some different, but I can't wait to experience them at DL. We have been to MK on days where we've ridden just 3 or 4 things because of the crowds and I don't want that for DL. I now know when to NOT visit WDW but don't know about DL. I'd appreciate any input. THANKS!

We went in the first week of December the last two years. Crowds were higher last year than they were in '07, but for us it was still pleasant.

If you're there the first weekend of Dec, that can run into the Candlelight Processional, which really only fills the front of DL itself. The Monday and Tuesday after that are when the Cast Member Parties are generally held, and DL closes early both nights (DCA is open late, if memory serves).

You do want to go earlier in the month rather than later....the parks just fill up more and more the further into the month you go.

I think there's a whole thread dedicated to December...it's a *wonderful* and beautiful time of year!

December is great. We go mid Dec, DD's bday is the 15th. The crowds are still manageable then and the weather has been ok in the past. Molly is right, the earlier you go the better it should be.

Historically, early December weekdays are usually very light on crowds, but the Christmas stuff is all up and running including the fireworks. Weekends, beginning with Fridays are a different story altogether.

And if you loved POTC and Space at WDW, you ain't seen nothing yet. Most Disneyland veterans who go on POTC at WDW wonder what happened to half the ride. And then we feel bad for those who have never experienced Disneyland's POTC.

Haunted Mansion will have the Nightmare Before Christmas layover in December.

Thanks for the help! Looks like early December will be good for us :goodvibes

After we wrap up our trip this Dec, I'll start researching the Disneyland boards. First time we visited DL, I was really unprepared. I'll be more prepared this time :thumbsup2

There's no better place to start than Hydroguy's awesome DLR Guide for WDW Vets. Seriously, he should publish this and sell it on Amazon; it's that good.
