Disneyland Hotels Question

Hi! We are DVC members who have booked a 2BR villa at GC for my family and parents. My sister is thinking of coming with us and would need another room. Given that GC is so small, there is no availability. We do not want to pay cash--we want to use our points. We can book my sister and family in either PP or DL Hotel using points. Can anybody tell me which is closer to GC and/or which is more convenient? DH tells me that PP is across a busy street--is there some kind of walkway? He also tells me that DL Hotel goes under a street so you might feel more connected. I would like them to stay somewhere where they will enjoy it, as well as be quick and convenient to GC and us.

Also, can resorts at other guests pool hop? We would all like to swim together.

No pool hopping.

PPH is closer. There's a nice long light at a big crosswalk for people to cross between PPH and the Grand. It's the best way for PPH guests to get to the parks.

DLH would require a long walk through half, maybe 3/4 of DownTown Disney to get to the DTD entrance to the Grand.

call member services. it was rumored you would no longer be able to book at PPH or DL hotel once the villas were built. I have not heard otherwise yet.

I would imagine that if there was no availability at the Villas they would try to accommodate you at the PPH or DLH but I have no idea because we don't own with DVC.

PPH is closer, the light is good, huge crosswalk and it stays on walk for a while. Very easy to get from hotel to hotel and while pool hopping is not allowed if you're guests of the hotel you can bring others to the pool. I can't remember the limit but you can do it. I know because when we stayed at both places (different trips LOL) we asked and were told yes we could have guests at the pool with us.

You can still use points at PPH and DL hotel. PP is a bit closer but DL hotel is not too far away. Either would be fine. I have never stayed at PP but if I cannot stay at VGC then I would stay at DL hotel because I like the ambiance there. As far as swimming together -- you can have up to 9 people in a 2 bedroom villa. Will there be 9 of you? Could you add your sister and her family to your villa so that they would be guests at VGC but also get them a room at PP or DL with your points?

Thanks for your replies. Yes you can book the other hotels--I checked on availability and was told how many points it would take etc. That's a great idea about having all 9 listed on the room. We are 9 exactly.

I appreciate the comments re: PP vs DL and proximity etc. It seems there are pro's and con's. What I like about GC is that even though you are in the middle of Anaheim, CA, you do seem like you are a world away--and also smack dab in a wonderful Disney experience. Does either PP or DL hotel give you that experience as well?

We liked the PPH but it's not as Disney immersive as GCH. The rooms had definite touches, the staff was awesome but it felt different. Probably because it didn't used to be a DLR hotel, it was the Pan Pacific before (I think.....)
