Disneyland Hotel

Just wondering if anyone has booked with a site other than Disney for a room here like Expedia or Hotels.com? Does that prevent you from requesting a certain tower? Any other problems?

Any advice on a tower to request? Premium view is just upper floor view?

Noting prevents you from making a request...but in the Hotel industry as a whole...third party bookings are regarded as bottom of the barrel in who the hotel will bend over backwards to accommodate, so I would not have very hight expectations.

We have used hotels.com in order to get the 20% discount they sometimes have available. You can always call the hotel directly to make your requests.

In general, I try to make my reservations directly with the hotel because I do think they give preference to the guests that book directly with them due for room choices to revenue. Never had any proof of that, with the exception of when I use hotwire ... seems like booking with them always gets me the worst room in the hotel.

I have booked DLH twice and PPH once using Orbitz. I've never had a hard time making my requests. The CMs are always really nice over the phone and answer all my questions. You will want to call the hotel directly though. Wait a few days after you book for your booking to show up in their system. The first time I stayed at DLH I asked for a high floor and a fireworks view. We only paid for a standard room but we got our request, and that was over the busy Thanksgiving weekend! Last year when we stayed at PPH we asked for connecting rooms and we got that too. This is Disney, so I believe they really try to make every guest happy regardless of where you booked.

Opinions on the towers? Which is closer to the parks?

We stayed in Adventureland tower and it was closest to Downtown Disney and the monorail.

Towers:
Adventure Tower is closest to the parks and monorail. One side has a view towards DTD (fireworks) and the other has a view towards the pool. Some of what would be a pool view from the Adventure Tower are blocked by Trader Sam's on the lower floors.

Fantasy Tower is the tower where you check in. The gift shop is here and Goofy is often seen in the lobby. To me, it has the most "Disney" feel in the common areas. One side has a view of the pool, the other side has a parking lot view. Steakhouse 55 and Goofy's Kitchen are right next to it.

Frontier Tower is farthest from the parks and is known for being the quietest of the 3 towers. One side has excellent pool views, the other has parking lot views. It's closest to the monorail water slide pools and has a nice outdoor seating area.

While Frontier may be the furthest in the morning for your walk to the park, if you exit from DCA, it is the closest tower to the walk back from the Grand!

Frontier tower is a great tower.

I remember when we has the Sierra (Adventure) , Bonita (Frontier) and Marina (Fantasy) Towers. Frontier is also the largest tower I believe.

I loved the Frontier tower, and was granted my request for a high floor room facing the pool. We actually could see the Matterhorn in the distance, too! And even though none of the restaurants or shops are located in the Frontier, it just means you get to enjoy wandering across the beautiful grounds more often!

Which is really funny, because I have booked direct and with third party sites, generally speaking I get far better accommodations when booking through the third party sites, but then again I almost always do a review of the property using my real name, so that may help.
