What is a standard room at Disneyland Hotel like? Is there a sofa bed? I'm thinking of booking a room here for our trip in October but wonder if it's worth the extra expense? Any and all tips are appreciated. Thank you!

Hi neighbor! :wave2:

The standard rooms are pretty typical hotel rooms. There are 2 queen beds, an armoir which has your TV and Frig in it, a round table with 2 chairs next to it and there is also a desk and chair next to the arcadia door which leads to a very narrow balcony. There is one sink and a separate little area for the toilet with a door. Tub shower combo. There is an ironing board and iron in the closet.

We did a package last year and stayed at the DLH because we never have before. It is pretty pricey for what you can get outside the park, but it was worth to do just once. We loved the store in the lobby and the little coffee shop just outside the Magic building. The pool is awesome and is very well themed if you plan on spending time there. During October, the hours at DL are relatively short, so I don't feel like its worth it to take a break during the day. It might be too cool to swim in the evening, but the pool is heated and open until 10:00 PM.

Some of the standard rooms come with a day bed. The one we had a few weeks ago did. Two queens, and the day bed. We had a standard view of the front of the hotel, but a GREAT view of the fireworks!

One of the nice things about staying onsite is the fact that at the end of the day the hotel is closer. But also when the park is closed you can play in Downtown Disney and if you choose to visit say the House of Blues and have a few cocktails and listen to music you can and you don't have to worry about driving back anywhere your hotel is right there. I also like the theming of the DLH. It makes the whole stay more fun for the whole family. From the glow in the dark pixie dust wall trim to the Mickey Mouse hand lamps in the bathroom. I love staying there. One other thing I take advantage of I can send the things I buy back to the hotel and they willl be at the bell desk in the morning and I don't have to carry them all over the park.

Since we wanted a king-sized bed, we had a rather small room. We had a desk and one chair. The mini-fridge wouldn't get stuff very cold (& it was cranked all the way up.) No coffee-maker in the room, but coffee was available in the lobby of each tower in the AM.

The location can't be beat. And once the new monorails are in service, hopefully they will run on a schedule (they seemed to be down every afternoon last week - and they weren't running for early opening on Thursday.)

And the grounds are beautiful.

Personally I would say it depends on what you are looking for. For us, it was not worth it.

One year we stayed there, one year we stayed across Harbor. I felt like the walk to Harbor was closer. I thought the monorail would be great but we waited for it so long every time and we were never near Tommorrowland. I felt like it was faster and more convenient to take the train to Main Street and walk across Harbor to the offsite hotel.

The views, grounds, lobby, restaurants and pools are great but those just aren't things we need to be that great. We are happy with a standard pool, but our kids are little. I felt the room was really pedestrian and small and the service was not what I thought it would be. We didn't get any of the little extras even though we left tips, no towel animals, no chocolates with turndown. I even called ahead of time and asked for balloons and a signed picture and we never did get them even though I asked again when we checked in.

Anywhere you stay it will be fun!

To the best of my recollection, it's two queen beds, no sofa bed.

When I called to make a reservation, the lady asked me if I wanted a sofa bed. Sure thing! DS8 can sleep on it, and I get one of the beds to myself. MIL and DS6 can share the other. :cool1:

Thank you, everyone, for all your tips and stories. I've been going back and forth on what to do. I know the space of the room is really really important with a teen-ager, a 4 1/2 y.o. with plenty of energy and a Grumpy DH! :rotfl2: It kind of sounds like the rooms are fairly small and we'd probably be happier at the Embassy Suites. :confused3 I still go back and forth and back and forth. I really, really want to stay there but not sure at what expense! :goodvibes
