My husband has finally agreed to let us stay at the DL Hotel for our December trip!

I am so excited.

I think we are just going to do a standard view room. Is there anything I should request. I am hoping to still get some sort of non-parking lot view.

Is the neverland pool heated?

Thanks everyone.

We are booked there as well in October and I was really excited until I heard they are doing a major refurb (gutting the towers) or tearing it down. I might change our reservations to the GC.

Anyone know any more about the plans for the DLH in 2008?

Oh really? the reservations desk didn't mention anything about this. Good to know. I wonder how long the refurb will take. Awhile I'm sure. I would love more info if anyone has any.

i'm going THIS SATURDAY!!!

and i will let you know if i see anything (staying at the DLH too)

This will be our 1st trip to DLR. Excited about staying at the DLH. Look forward to reading your report. We have 2 preferred rooms via DVC points. Don't know which tower. Also interested in hearing reviews of restaurants.

From another site:

"The Disneyland Hotel is about to undergo a massive refurbishment to its aging towers that will take several years to complete. After the recent success of the specially themed extra-cost suites, more will be on the way once the Disneyland Hotel is finished with its refurbishment. Each tower will basically be stripped down to the skeleton and rebuilt from the inside out one by one. The grounds, restaurants, shops and amenities will also all be gutted and rebuilt at the same time."

Another site said the hotel would be torn down completely because the 50 year-old infrastructure needed to go. I am having a really hard time paying how much we are per night to stay at a property that is so outdated it needs to be gutted or razed not long after we stay (or during.)

I don't want to be Debbie Downer here, but am taking 4 people who have never been to DLR before and want them to have the best possible experience.

We were just there this past Wed - Sun and there is no renovating going on yet.

We stayed in the Dreams tower, on the 8th floor, with a DTD (fireworks)view. The only thing I would warn about is the noise from the music at DTD. If you plan on trying to go to sleep before 10 pm, then you might want to try a different tower (my parents stayed in the Wonder tower and it was quiet).

They say the pool is heated, but I'd say it was cool, not warm. They may heat it more in the colder months though.

The hotel is far from glamorous, but it's family friendly and comfortable. Definitely over-priced for the accomodations, but worth it for the convenience. :)

We stayed in the Dreams tower in Oct overlooking the pool...nice quiet room on the 6th floor... loved the DLH, and I do hope they do a really nice reburb on it... but I don't think they've made any decisions as to when or what they are going to do.

You could just stay at GCH if you are worried... we'll be there in 18 days, and can't wait!!
