Disneyland Hotel - With Pictures

Just booked an extra night stay at the DLH...any word on when all the towers will be renovated? Last I could find, the Magic Tower isn't updated yet, but that could be out dated info. Any updates?? TIA :goodvibes

The magic tower just started being reno'd the middle of last month. Sierra should be done. So just one left, and only a few non-refurbed rooms.

Thanks for the info, DahliaRW. This sounds like good news to me...more of a chance to get a renovated room when we are there in May :goodvibes

It's kind of weird seeing this thread after all these years. I remember when Mary Jo created it and how I wanted to stay at the DLH back then. Seeing those pictures and fast forwarding to now, so much has changed to the hotel and the grounds.

If you want to get a new room you just have to ask for a preferred view room. It costs more money but it is what they are classing the renovated rooms as, just remember though it's not worth paying extra for a pool view since they are tearing it up, and they will try to get you to do it.

Thank you for the pool view advice...I won't get suckered into that now! :goodvibes

You definitely don't want to get an older room, that's for sure. Last summer I stayed there for 3 nights and got an older room on the first night. It was horrible and how Disney got away with charging the rate they are for those rooms, was almost criminal. The room was big, but everything was so worn out including the bathroom, which the hot water came and went like it had a mind of it's own. I complained the next morning and was moved to a new room in the dreams tower and what a difference. The updated, new room was beautiful and the little Disney touches everywhere were awesome. The bellhop guy who moved my luggage to the dreams tower even said the redo/makeover was long over due.

Well, and right now if you get an older room, you will be in the tower under construction.

I talked to an operator at the hotel today and i told her we will be there at the end of May (in Anaheim, haven't decided on the hotel yet) she said the pool will still be open, but the slide won't be available so guests could use the GC or PP pools for that. I wonder what else would be out of whack at the DL Hotel? I would definately want one of the refurbed rooms that's for sure! My husband and I stayed there years ago, and they definately need to be updating them now! ;)

I really hope we get an updated room, or it sounds like I won't be so happy that I spent the money to stay there!! When can you put in a request? Think that would make much of a difference??

We were just there this past weekend. We had booked an standard room and ended up with a beautiful refurbed room in the wonder tower. From what I could tell about two-thirds of the rooms have been redone now. Your chances of getting a refurbed room are pretty good.

How was the pool area going? We arrive the end of March and wondering what to expect with construction?

Thanks for posting this, we are also going the last week of may & I was considering staying at DLH but I guess we will book PPH or GH and wait for DLH to be finished before we returned there :goodvibes

The neverland pool was open when we were there. We didn't use it but I saw people in there swimming.

I'm planning on booking four nights at DLH the second week in May, would it be better to go with the PPH or off-site considering all the construction? This will be my 15th visit, but my first time staying at the DLH.

When you're in your room you won't notice the construction (unless you're in the tower being renovated - I don't know if there would be noise during the day). If you have a courtyard view, you will probably see some if it out of your window. We were on the 6th floor and had no issues with construction noise (dreams tower). In fact, my in-laws room on the DTD side had more noise from the bands and such there.

DLH is closer. So unless construction is going to be an issue for you, I would stay there. PPH is a longer walk, and you'll feel it at the end of the day.

I've stayed at the PPH before and I usually stay at the BWPPI, so I'm pretty knowledgeable about the walks. I think my main concern with the construction at the DLH was the possibility of paying about $1000 more (as opposed to BWPPI) just to stay at DLH with the possibility that I could end up in an unrefurbished room.

Do you have to pay to park at the DLH if you are just dining there, not staying?

Does anyone know when the full refurb is supposed to be done, mainly the pool area and slides?
