I have a question. I currently have reservations for the disneyland hotel on the concierge level ($174 annual passholder rate). we are staying for 2 nights/ 3 days and then going to the beaches. My question is, is it worth it to stay at the DL hotel or just as good to stay outside the park and save some money. I have 2 girls(2 and 5). I thought it would be worth it for the snacks, location, and the pool. If anyone has stayed on the concierge level or has opinions about the outside hotels, please let me know. thank you for your help.

It's a tough decision, and I guess what it boils down to is what your priority is. If you fully want to immerse yourself in Disney and are willing to splurge for it, then a Disney hotel will do it. If your goal is to save money, then offsite.

Personally, at DL, I don't feel that I HAVE to stay at a Disney hotel like I do when I visit WDW. However, it sounds like the AP rate for concierge is a pretty good deal. There are many hotels right across the DL entrance which are just as convenient as far as location goes though. I've stayed at Best Western Park Place Inn, Carousel Inn, and Howard Johnsons, and liked them all. My favorite of those is actually HoJo, but it is a little further down the street.

I recently stayed at GC, and it was a splurge, but I didn't have a "real" vacation in a long time, so for me it was well worth it. It also was extremely convenient to DD and the parks. If money is tight, then maybe you should switch to offsite, but if you can afford the splurge, the price sounds like a good deal for concierge, especially considering your two girls who I'm sure would love the DLH.

I tend to agree with Luv Tigger - for WDW we always stay on site - Disneyland it's a tougher call. Your little ones will love the neverland pool if you will be taking time out for swimming and you do have Disney theming - I used to love staying there and wandering when all the shops were there - not so much anymore - but then our kids love spending every minute in the parks - so we usually stay off site at DL
Good Luck deciding!
