Last year we stayed in the DL Hotel and it was nice. We loved the bkfst and the character interaction, the proximity to the parks and enjoyed eating at Cali Grill and relaxing at the nice bar in the evenings, and thought our room was fine. This year, I'm thinking about trying out the NY Hotel, just because I generally like to try different things. Will I be disappointed? Is the bkfst and character interaction approx the same? Restaurants? Bar? TIA

Ive never stayed at New York (its the only one I havent) but have spent time in there and had fun with the characters.

However saying that you can still go into DLH and join in the character fun there, eat there and go in the bar wherever you are staying

I suppose it's personal preferance if you'll be disappointed or not.

We have stayed at DLH once, 7 years ago and are going back in a few weeks :cool1: We loved the DLH, closeness to the parks, hot breakfast and beautiful surroundings meeting with characters.

We have stayed at Hotel New York 3 times and loved it each time. The breakfast is similar, with hot items, but not quite as luxurious. The Manhattan restaurant is lovely and breakfast in there is really good. The Parkside Diner is less informal, but just as good. We met characters each morning in the lobby, though not as many as in the DLH - there tends to be 2 that alternate each day, but never any large queues. The rooms are large and airy, with same services/amenities as DLH just different decor. The swimming pool is large, and has an outdoor section in the summer which was just wonderful. Tennis courts are good too.

It's a pleasant stroll through Disney Village each day, but no matter how short in the mornings it does take it's toll at the end of an exhausting day!

If money was not object, i'd be honest and say that we'd go for DLH purely on location - but HNY comes a very close second. It's more affordable for us, staff are lovely and we have loved every vist there. I can't fault it at all.

Good luck deciding :goodvibes

I have stayed at both. Both are great hotels, I prefer the decor of the HNY and love the bar there, it is just like the bar that was in our hotel at NYC too and the lobby is spot on. The location is still good, espcially if you like to eat or shop in the village after the parks close.

We loved the DLH too, location it is great obviously and the rooms are lovely. The only thing I didn't like about it is that the public areas get really busy in the evening. The HNY was more relaxing.

We are staying at the HNY this time as we see it as better value. We will probably stay at the DLH again at some point though!

Argh, I can't decide. I have a quote of $1,222/night for DLH and $751/night for HNY (both including park tickets). That's a big difference.

We have stayed at both and at DLH we stayed at standard and castle club rooms, even spent a night in one of the suites.

We loved the quiet elegance of DLH but didnt really think the rooms were all that much considering the cost. Yes it was close to the park at the end of the day but not close to anything else. We couldnt really afford to eat there in the evenings so we had to walk uphill to the village for dinner when the parks were closed.

The NYH was fab. The staff were great and everyone was very helpful. We could sit outside the hotel and order from the bar in the evenings if we wanted a drink; or just sit at one of the benches or the steps at the lake and watch the world go by. Looking out across the lake to the twinkling lights of NPB was a memory worth keeping!

For us we would book HNY over DLH purely for the decor, the fact that we were two minutes from the village and the bustle rather than being down the hill at DLH when, after the parks close, theres nothing worth seeing or doing.

I'd probably go for the New York...

You can still eat in California Grill and still use the bar so there's little difference there.

I seem to remember that the new york still provides a hot breakfast, so not much difference there either.

As courtusher pointed out, unless you eat in the hotel or park every night, you'll be walking to the village anyway so the location isn't too bad either.

Ok, I will. Thanks. I'm getting very excited. I love the look of HNY! The only thing it seems we didn't like about DLH is the decor; HNY is more our style.
