I have a couple of questions in regards to the Disneyland Hotel. This will be my first stay!
  1. Does anyone know if I can call ahead and reserve a spot on the Disneyland Hotel Tour for our arrival day? I saw an old schedule in another post and it showed the Happiest Hotel on Earth Tour at Disneyland Hotel is offered on Saturdays and Wednesdays at 1:00. We arrive on a Saturday around 11am and I thought this might be a nice time to do this.
  2. How can I request a room with 2 queen beds. There wasn't anyplace to do this when I made the reservation online. Sharing a room with a friend and we don't want to get stuck with only 1 bed.
Thanks for any help you can provide!

Almost all the rooms are two queens...only a few kings...so your chances are pretty good. One way to up your odds for two queens is change your reservation to three adults. They do not garuntee any room type but will assign them based on room occupancy.

There should be a place for comments/notes on the reservation page. You can edit your reservation to add in a note that you would like 2 queen beds, or like PP said add a third person to the reservation. When you check in, remind them of the room request. It's not guaranteed, but you should be fine. When I stayed at DLH I really wanted to be moved to a room with a king bed and there were none available for our entire stay. I think the 2 queen layout is far more common.

I wish they would let you book a specific type of room, like just about every other hotel company does.

...Or up your odds even more and book 5 adults.
DLR hotels do not charge extra for more guests.

.....or call the hotel and ask to have the request added to your reservation....

Can anyone share what the hotel tours are like (DLH and GCH) and how long they last? I will be staying there in a couple weeks and based on how crowded people are saying the parks have been, a hotel tour may be a good way to have some elbow room for a while. I know they will give me a schedule when I check in, but wondering if the tour will show me anything I haven't already seen.

I haven't been on one yet, but from what I've read, I believe they last about an hour. Here's the info I found on Disneyland's site -
Art of Craft Tour
Learn about the Arts and Crafts movement and how it influenced the architecture and design of Disney’s Grand Californian Hotel & Spa. Boasting a fascinating behind-the-scenes glimpse into the many hand-crafted artifacts found in the lobby and dining locations, this approximate one-hour tour will open your eyes to the magic embedded everywhere you look. To reserve a spot, stop by the Guest Services desk.

Happiest Hotel on Earth Tour
Discover how the Disneyland Hotel was a part of Walt Disney’s dream of the “Happiest Place on Earth” during a one-hour walking tour. Recommended for Guests 14 years of age and older, this fascinating journey through the history and design of the Disneyland Hotel is complimentary. To reserve a spot, stop by the Guest Services desk.

I'm hoping to be able to do one on arrival day since we arrive early that day and don't plan to go in the parks.

We did the DLH tour. We signed up when we arrived at GCH through the concierge. The tour was about 1 hour and the CM was very knowledgeable. We started in the DLH lobby and we toured the first floor of each tower while the CM talked to us about the history of the hotel and we stopped by S55 briefly and got to see the inside of the restaurant and learned some of the history behind a couple of the photos. We ended the tour in the DLH lobby. We loved it, we'd never seen much of DLH before then and certainly didn't know the history. I do remember we were starving by the time the tour was done so we booked it on over to Trader Sams for some food and grog after!
