Hi

Since we won't be able to go to WDW anytime soon, we are planning a short trip (3 nights or so) to DLP again this October.

Last time we stayed at New York, and just loved it, but we really admired the location of the Disneyland Hotel...so just a quick question for all, which would you choose ? The price difference is something like 400-500 euros, which does mean something to us too.

Oh, and we are a family of 3, 2 adults and our 7yrs old son.

i've only stayed at HNY out of the two, so im sort of in the same position as you, however i personally would go for HNY again. especially with such a big price difference!
i loved staying there and would definitely do it again. i guess its down to personal preference but i think HNY is so well layed out and run, and i love the rooms there. plus i think its in a lovely position by the lake

If money is not the question than I would always always always choose the DLH. The most beautiful hotel in the world. You feel like your room is in the park. As the DLH is the end of the Mainstreet you really feel like you are there. And if you want to rest or take a shower during the day you only need 2 minutes to get to your room. And in the evening hours you can walk through an almost empty Fantasia Garden! :thumbsup2

You've obviously not been to DL or WDW! Just kidding, it's ok, but I do feel the DLP hotels are subpar to the US versions.

Personally, I prefer the service and value of the HNY and think it's a better location for the Village and about the same for WDS. Sorry, but I really feel the DLH is a rip off.

Then again we prefer to stay in the 2 bedroom 3 bathroom houses of the Marriott and get some respite from the crowds.

I've never stayed at either, but I dream of staying at the DLH. But convenience to the parks is probably my top priority when choosing. When I stayed at NBC with my three little girls in June '07, the walk back to the hotel was too long. Maybe HNY would be short enough, but I looked at DLH everytime I passed under it, and wished I had gotten a room there. I wanted to stay there, but it was booked solid when I made my reservation (later, I heard others say there was room - I was bummed).

Another reason to stay at DLH, if money is no object (and I know you said otherwise), is that if you stay in Castle Club, you get VIP FastPasses. If they work the way I think they work, I would have loved to have paid for it in June. Maybe not such a big deal in other seasons though.

Yes that is true. I have never been to the US. But many people tell me I should see the hotels there. But until then, the DLH for me is the most beautiful hotel in the world. If I could afford it I would stay there during every visit. :wizard:

We stayed at one of the WDW resorts and it was fine with us.
The standard was just liked they promesed, not more not less.

The same like in DLRP.

Personell I would go for the Disneyland Hotel in DLRP.

I spent 1 night at the Disneyland Hotel in Apr 2006. It was undergoing refurbishment of the exterior at the time and our view was of scaffolding. It was a complimentary room though so didn't complain (long story). The decor was a little tired but the room was spacious and the beds were huge and very comfortable. The view (had we had one) would have been of the entrance to the park.

Breakfast was plentiful with lots of characters including minnie and mickey, goofy etc.

The best part was the location, FANTASTIC! you can be walking along Main Street within 5 minutes of leaving your room.

Given the chance to go again, i would, but I would try to find out if they have recently refurbished some of the rooms and if so, ask for one!

The only bit of the New York Hotel I've seen is the lobby. The location is at the end of the Disney Village so right next to loads of restaurants so comes a close second to the Disneyland Hotel. Also stayed at the Movenpick Dream Castle (v. good) and the Holiday Inn (also v.good) but with these you have to use the bus transfer and these can be very crowded, although it is only a very short journey.

Hope this helps.

Hi, The DLH is great for location and has lots of characters around however don't expect loads more for your money than the HNY, the main benefit is the location. The negative for me is that the public areas get very busy compared to the HNY. I think that if staying at the DLH means having less to spend on meals etc than I would go for the HNY.

Very smart words, but then you are an Aerosmith fan and therefore have great taste in my books!

That's a good point. The public areas were v busy and there was a long queue to get seated for brekkie, although time passed pretty quickly as the characters were on hand for photos, autographs etc. There were also some pretty full on families where every child had dressed up like princesses at breakfast! A bit OTT for my liking but they seemed to be enjoying it.

Funny, we always dress ours up. My son as Mickey and daughter as Minnie. Hook and Tink, Stitch and Lilo. We even coordinate, my wife and daughter have Disney hawaiian dresses and my son and I have matching shirts. We also try to coordinate other clothes too. And on our 1st day, I try to wear an article of clothing from every Disney resort around the globe.

Another trick is we use coloured hair gel to put Mickey's in our hair. So it sounds like we are OTT for your li:rotfl2: :rotfl: king!

We stayed at the Disneyland hotel for a couple of nights and it was heaven - those rooms must be well soundproofed!!! We did not hear anyone else at all once we shut our room door.
Breakfast was fantastic, characters were around the whole hotel ALL of the time, check in was quick and the concierge was fantastic. And well, location, location, location - we had 2 under 5 and it was ideally situated.

So I can highly recommend it.

Thanks for good comments, I think we will stick with HNY, mostly because of the money, but when we started to think about it, the location of the HNY is actually very good for the restauraunts of the Village...soooo, of to the Hotel New York it is...:)
