Disneyland Hotel or Hotel New York?

We have stayed in Walt Disney World a number of times but this will be our first visit to DLP. It is just my DW and I. Last time we were in WDW we stayed at Bay Lake and loved the proximity to the park.

We were going to stay at the Disneyland Hotel, but after looking at the price difference now we are leaning towards Hotel New York. We are staying in Paris for three days. Doing Disney for two and then Paris for one and then heading to Barcelona for the night followed by a cruise.

Is Disneyland Hotel worth the extra cost or are we better off saving that money and using it on our cruise? Even if we stayed at Hotel New York it seems like it would be an easy enough walk to the park.

Any help would be appreciated. This is all new to me.

It depends on what the extra cost is, I think, and if you can afford it, and when you are going.

I have stayed in both, as well as NPB and Cheyenne and the Kyriad off site. I didn't like HNY at all. Loved NPB. But since we stayed at the DLH last trip I doubt I can stay anywhere else again. It is lovely, calm and the 2 minute walk to the park is a huge plus. Saying that, if we didn't have a 5 year old who gets tired easily and needs pit stops, the HNY is an easy enough walk back - it is about 10 minutes and it is a nice hotel.

I have stayed at both and like both but unless I got DLH with 50% I wouldn't pay the prices for it but that is me personally. I would say unless we are only talking about a small difference in price I would say stay at HNY. Its only about a 5 minute walk through the Village.

Yes the DLH is right at the entrance but I prefer the HNY personally

Hi the HNY is our family favorite but then my girls are 15 and 21 so like the sophistication of this hotel.....its a 10 minute walk to parks and the breakfast is similar to the DLH with hot items on the menu - its a big hotel but the common areas feel very spacious - its shop is on the small side. The staff are fantatstic too always smiling and very courteous! That said we are staying in the DLH this trip as it is Xmas season and I love the decor of DLH at Xmas. We have stayed at all but the cowboy hotel and have liked them all for different reasons! Enjoy your planning

Price wise the DLH is $2,028.00 and HNY is $1,232.00. That's a $796 (US) dollar difference between resorts. If I were to use DVC points the DLH is 134 points and the HNY is only 65 points. If I were to use DVC points there would be a $95 surcharge to use points so I think paying cash would be the way to go.

I am leaning towards the HNY. I would imagine the walk is about the same from Bay Lake Tower to the Magic Kingdom and that is an easy walk. As I said it is only DW and I.

That is what we have paid for 4 nights, 5 days (I think we are going a similar time) for DLH, and was a similar price difference between there and HNY. I think it is a great price for the DLH, but it is our WHOLE holiday, not part of it. So in your case, with a cruise to consider too, I would probably stay at the HNY, it is a very nice hotel, great breakfast, and right at the edge of the village.

what site are you looking for this price?, did you check French and UK website as well? they are always cheaper than US one and you can book on them as well...

That price difference would definately have me staying at the HNY. As PP stated have a look at other countries sites on the official site as they usually have better deals and you can book on any countries site everything is emailed.

I am actually trying to book Disneyland Hotel, but I am having a hard time. When it comes to putting in my payment information it is not allowing me to change the default Country from UK to USA. Anything I am missing?

Can anyway share their experiences with reservations? We only have two days in the park so we don't want to waste too much time with sit table service dining. The one place DW and I would like to check out though is the Blue Lagoon Restaurant. Just for the fact that its in PotC. We have dined a few times in San Angel when we were in Epcot and we had a water view. I am assuming it is pretty similar?

Is it worth sitting down to eat or should we just keep going? What is the best way to book dining?

The only way to book dining is to phone up 60 days beforehand.

We really enjoy the atmosphere in Blue lagoon, especially when we get a table by the water. We also like the new Bistrot Chez Remy, the menu is limited but this ensures a 45 minute turnaround for your meal.

We usually have a sit down meal each day. We use that time to relax and recharge, espacially if we have been in the parks from EMH.

If you want a character meal, Inventions buffet in the Disneyland hotel is also excellent.

We had room 1212 in the DLH in May and it overlooked the entrance turnstiles, the Main St train station and we went to sleep and woke up hearing the glorious park music. From what I've read it seems to be similar the the Grand Floridian at WDW.

Thanks!! I assumed DLH was something similar to the Grand Floridian. Do you request to have a room with a park view when you check in? Unlike Bay Lake or The Boardwalk in WDW I didn't see any separate categories for a park view.

Halloween is one of our favorite times to do WDW! The fireworks, parades, shows, party, its all spectacular. Does DLP have Halloween parties similar? Do we need a separate hard ticket to gain access to the parks during the Halloween Parties?

Thanks once again. I feel like we know so much about WDW but know nothing about DLP! Ahhhhh!! Fortunately we will be in DLP for two full days so we should be able to get everything done that we want to get done. We figured we would do the Studios one morning (mainly to check out Ratatouille and Pixar stuff) and then head over the Disneyland for the rest of the afternoon.

So we will land in Paris at 8am Wednesday. Do Disneyland all day Wednesday (not sure how tired or jet-lagged we will be). Studios Thursday morning and then head back to Disneyland for the afternoon/evening. We have reservations at The Blue Lagoon at 5pm Thursday. Then we were going to use Friday to go into Paris and take some tours. If we miss anything we can always do it before we went into Paris to do some tourist stuff. The Saturday we fly to Barcelona.

Disneyland will be open from 8am-8pm and Disney Studios will be open from 10am-6pm.

Does that sound about right? Or is my planning way off?

Congratulations on you booking! Your plans sound fine. Remember at DLP you can park hop within minutes as the parks are so close. Also as you're at DLH you'll be in the park minutes after leaving the hotel I'd definitely agree that you should eat one table service meal each day, and make sure you book in advance - not all restaurants are open every day mid week, so if there is somewhere you really don't want to miss it will help you plan. Hope you have a great time

With your first post I was going to reply that HNY to the park is still a shorter walk than from BLT/CR to MK.

Staying at DLH is like walking from bag check at WDW!
