I noticed that the DH is booked the week of the(September) 16th to the 21st when I am staying there,is that normal or unusually crowded? I thought it would be less crowded.

Not sure. Didn't find anything fast through a search, but it is the first week of Halloweentime.

Thanks for the help. I am not sure if I was missing something being that it was booked solid.I know that the Frankenweenie Exhibit is there that week and maybe Carsland carry over? I am starting to wonder if I need to hustle now and make some reservations for dinners.

Isitpacked.com has it listed as ghost town. So it's not too clear.

The Wonder finishes it's Vancouver to LA repo cruise on the 16th which may have something to do with it :confused3 I'm staying there from the 16-19th :thumbsup2

There's a large conference taking place September 15-21, 2012. It is based at the Disneyland Hotel. CUNA (Credit Union National Association) attendees have a special rate available to them at the DLH ($159/nt) as long as they book by 8/27/2012.

It looks like they have their evenings free each night of their conference.

The fact that they have to reserve rooms by the 27th to get their special rate MAY mean that some rooms free up if they have a block set aside until that date (as conferences often do).

Wow. Frankenweenie + start of Halloweentime (meaning the Nightmare Before Christmas overlay on HM) = hello Tim Burton fans! :)

Weird! We're staying the week of September 10th (just three weeks away) and we booked the PPH, and the reservationist said I got the last park-view room! I know I'm booking last minute, but still... to hear that when it's supposed to be a quiet time, kinda made me wonder.

Great find, Dreams!

The Disney hotels don't have to have any quiet seasons if they don't want to. It would seem the DLH can still make a profit at $159/night, and I imagine they'd probably be sold out in the off season if they made that rate available to all. And I've read that the Disney hotels had very high occupancy rates BEFORE Cars Land. So I wouldn't take a sell-out at a Disney hotel as being indicative of anything affecting the parks...just that the hotel is popular, has a convention, and/or has a good deal going on.

Sounds like the convention could increase evening crowds at the parks...but on the other hand, presumably a disproportionate number of guests in that block of rooms won't be visiting the parks at ALL during the day, so that's something.

Rainforest_Elf, a lot of people on the DISboards (including me) have been stressing the importance of getting a Park View room at the PPH, versus a standard view room, and I reckon the majority of rooms are standard view. So maybe that's why the Park View rooms were booked. ;)

EDIT: Just heard in the podcast that the Paradise Pier was completely booked at least one day, and the Grand Californian was completely booked for a few days this summer as well. Again, I don't think that necessarily affects or reflects park attendance...I don't think mid-August (prior to blockouts) was necessarily busier than much of July. My guess is that more people are starting to understand the perks of staying on-site.

A conference makes a lot of sense now (as well as mixed with the usual). I believe that is a good thing. With the conference hours set ,it leaves windows for quiet off hours. Thanks for the scoop.I feel better!
