I was looking up Disneyland Paris, in particular, the Disneyland Paris hotel...and the pics looked fancier than the Grand Floridian (though it's hard to tell even from virtual tours). The prices are more than GF (my quote was about 500 a night). Can anyone compare the Disneyland Hotel in Paris to the GF for me? Thanks for any info!

I havent sayed there, but it is very very pretty - pink - and right at the entrance to the park, however the rooms are small compared to the GF, the pool is indoors and very small and plain. It is definately the nicest hotel at DLP though it is expensive. I am not a huge fan of DLP I just dont think it has the magic of WDW.

The DL hotel is stunning but the rooms are smaller than at the GF. However rooms in Europe tend to be smaller than in the US on a whole. The pool is plain, as are all the pools at all the DLP resort hotels. They have to be indoors though due to the climate (I was there last week and it was snowing!) As someone else has posted the hotel is directly over the enterence to the MK park so the location is great. Although it is expensive one thing to bear in mind is that the costs of a stay quoted for any DPL hotel usually include breakfast and park passes.

I have stayed at both.

I thought the Disneyland hotel was nicer then the GF. While the rooms were smaller they were not dramatically smaller and the location is the best anywhere. I think the location alone sold me on the hotel. I was there in winter and being able to walk right to your hotel as you leave the park to go warm up was WONDERFUL! Service was fine except for breakfast and I understand that has improved since my visit.

Overall DLP has some additional attention to details in the design that are not at MK and that carries over to the hotel. For example, Main Street is more ornate then in Orlando or Californai.

The DisneyLand Paris Hotel didn't strike me as being as grand in scope as the GF. Also, the elegance is a little more stiff in my opinion. That said, it is a beautiful, beautiful hotel. The location is worth any price -- you basically just have to fall out the door and you're at the park.

In comparison to the other hotels at DLP -- and I only made it to Hotel New York and the Newport Club -- the Disneyland Hotel seems to come the closest to the kind of resort magic you get in Florida. It is light and airy, with great attention to detail. The other resorts seemed kinda flat and very European (not a negative, just different), which for an American girl who needed a few days of familiarity while studing in Europe was very noticable.

we stayed at the new york when we were there last summer (got a free upgrade from the newport) and it was comparable to other disney deluxes in our opinion. we didn't get to see the inside of the disneyland hotel, but if we could have afforded it, that is where we would have been staying. it is literally right at the admission gates. all the other hotels require a bit of a hike through the disney village (and some of them you can't really walk from at all).

We stayed at HNY in DLP in May 2003 and we actualy thought it was quite good being a walk through the Disney village to get to the park. All the eateries are there, so if you're heading back to base you can eat on the way - at the DH you'd have to walk out and then walk back (if you didn't want to eat in your hotel).

We found the kid-friendly restaurant at HNY a bit of a disappointment - not very imaginative food, and the kids buffet was rarely topped up - plates were left empty for a long time in the hope someone would eat the last cold burger!

DLP is a good "practice run" for europeans who want to try out their small kids before a 9-hour flight to Florida! But its a lot more expensive to eat in the parks (we used to save some breakfast rolls and fruit). My mum took us and my DS + family for a treat for 4 nights, and the pink hotel would have cost an extra £1,000 (US$1,800) for one night LESS.

If you're already in america not worth crossing the pond for!

You can walk to any of the Disney hotels at Disneyland Paris - there are some affliated hotels that are further away.
We stayed at the Cheyenne, which is a Cowboy themed hotel, and I thought the theming was amazing - the attention to detail was superb. I don't think any of the Florida hotels come close in terms of actually feeling like you are somewhere else.
Our room at the Cheyenne was quite small (double bed and bunks) but it had everything we needed and it served it's purpose - and walking through the grounds was just brilliant. It's about a 15 minute walk to the park.

We went for a meal in the Disneyland hotel, and it is a bit stuffy, but the location is out of this world (then again, so is the price)

The 'Magic Kingdom' park at DLP is really nice - it hasn't got quite as many rides as Orlando, but it is beautiful, and more spacious than Magic Kingdom, and has some interesting features, like covered walkways behind the shops on Main Street, which I think are really neat.
