Disneyland Hotel --Here Now

Do they have a date for when they think the new slide will be open? We are going at the end of Aug and would love for the pool to be a pool...lol.

You could be in for some trouble.

While the current construction will be done. The new water play area and waterslides open. In the Fall they will start the second phase and replace the big pool.

Fall rehabs can start in August.

Thanks for that!
I'm now torn if we should switch hotels.

It depends on what you really want in the pool area.

The new area will be open and have. Big Slides and little Slides, in the water play area. Hot tub. Lounge chairs to tan in over a big area. A 4 foot deep pool small pool.

Only the big Neverland pool which currently exists will be possibly closed down.

Dang. I thought the mess would be cleared out by summer!
So naive. It's not fun during massive reconstruction. It doesn't feel magical, just kind of "off."

We'll be at Disneyland in September but staying offsite where a conference is being held. We're signed up for the Tinkerbell Marathon in January, surely to heck they'll be done by then, right? Otherwise, it's Grand CA. Not a bad alternative but we really love the Dland Hotel.

Shoot, I thought The Grand had one also. When I called DLH they told me the little slide area was closed. I may change my ressie now.
The Grand has a slide that winds down, and a smaller slide in the same pool off to the side. The smaller slide is probably only 4-5 feet.

You can see it on the right side of the picture there. Not as fun as the big one, but its something!

Oh! That's not so bad then. The small pool sounds plenty good enough and the slides will keep her busy while I lounge. Thanks!

Hi everyone...we are currently staying at the Disneyland Hotel for a pre-cruise visit to Disneyland. I'd read a lot about the construction and seriously considered switching to the Great Wolf...ahem, Grand Californian, though it did not personally appeal to me. I'm so glad that we didn't and stuck with our original choice. I know everyone's experiences differ, but we haven't had any problems or really much noticed the construction here at the hotel. We are in the Dreams tower with a Downtown Disney view, which I think is a good location construction-wise. At any rate, I know I worried a lot reading negative reviews, so I thought I'd share our experience. We love the hotel and, other than having to walk the long way to get to the bakery one morning, the construction has been a non-issue for us. Yes, things aren't as "pretty" as they will be, but, hey, we're from Florida and used to "pardoning the pixie dust" pretty much all the time, so maybe it just doesn't seem that big of a deal to us. Just happy to be here!

We are planning a 2/3 day pre-cruise trip to Disneyland next year. Could you fill me in on your transportation logistics - what airport did you fly into to - how did you get to hotel, and then to the port, etc. Any info would be helpful. THANKS!!

We flew into LAX (we're from Florida) and took Super Shuttle to the DLH. It was easy and we waiting maybe 5 minutes for the SS "Disneyland Express," which goes to the Disneyland area hotels. We made a stop at the Sheraton and then DLH. I want to say it took perhaps an 45-hour to get there? It wasn't bad at any rate.

As for transportation to the port, we used the DCL transport. That was nice b/c we didn't have to fool with our bags. They had to be in our room with the cruise tags on at 8am. The bus wasn't until 12pm, but that gave us time to hit the park one more time, so we didn't really want an earlier pick-up. It was very smooth and convenient. We've never used DCL transport in Florida, since we have a car, but I wouldn't hesitate to do it again.

Oh, and the kiddie slide at the Neverland Pool was closed. The spa was open and the pool was open with part of the pirate ship sticking out and part behind a wall. It was too cold to swim much, so it wasn't an issue.

Exactly the info I was looking for - thank you!!
