Disneyland Hotel and Crowd Questions

We will find ourselves in So Cal the week of August 16th, and I thought we'd stop at Disneyland for a few days. But, I've never gone at this time of year before - I'm a LOW crowd kind of girl and usually go Septermber or January/Feburary time, so I KNOW the crowds will be much different from my usual walk right on the rides, but I don't now how bad it will be at that time. It looks like August 27th is back to school - so will the week of August 16th be really bad - or a tiny bit slower as people get ready for school?

Also, I've never stayed at the Disneyland Hotel, and I'm looking at doing that. My question is, can you see the fireworks from the Disneyland Hotel like you can from the Grand California?

Any assistance will be greatly appreciated.

That week might be a touch crowded but not too horrible. Some may disagree. This year the crowds seem to be a bit harder to predict because of the Birthday Promotion. It seems more crowded at first, due to the the increased lines at the ticket booths.

As far as fireworks go, you can definitely see them from the Park View rooms of the Dreams Tower and from the East - end rooms in the Wonder and Magic. I've never had a North facing room in the Magic Tower, so I can't answer from that, but with the direction it faces, maybe in most of the rooms.
