Disneyland Hotel - 3 Questions

Hi all
Just a quickie regards our chosen hotel for the big trip next month;

1) Has anyone got any 'room tips' when requesting a room? We've booked a 'Standard' room but I've seen folk mentioning corner rooms been bigger, certain rooms having the patio areas, etc. Also, Is there an area of the hotel that's convenient for the reception, restaurants and park entrance?

2) I see check-in is from 3pm, is it rare for rooms to be ready before then? And if not, is there a 'luggage storage' facility until our room's available?

3) Anyone know any details about the refurb work that's taking place at the moment? I see from InsideDLP on Twitter there's some taking place but not sure as to what extent...

Can only help on number 3 - it's the paving outside the hotel near the park entrance. It shouldn't affect your stay except if you try to have a nap during the day and your room is near the works (I'm assuming there'll be some noise!). But otherwise, it shouldn't affect your stay at all.

Hi try sending a nice email to the DLH in French telling them your plans
I know you have been doing this re planning your trip they may give you a nice room anyway
We always been lucky and our room have been ready but yes all hotel have a luggage store at your hotel they will take your luggage there for you and deliver it to your room,so you can hit the park when you get back it will be thee waiting for you.
Not sure on the work tbh I'm not expecting much to be going on as it's going to be mad busy and every ride is open even captain EO and that been shut since feb.

Ok so 1212 was an amazing room. Overlooking the turnstiles so perfect for people watching. On the same floor ad the bar, boutique & restaurants. Ideal! Plus you could hear the park music from this room.
There is a left luggage desk at DLH and I cannot help with the last question sorry.

It is really noisy outside, but we didn't notice it too much inside. You shouldn't be affected too much, but if you are, tell them and they might move you or give you Pixie Dust

The best location for us was the ground floor - this is where you're likely to
get a small patio with outside table and chairs.

We were near the swimming pool - I remember seeing the big crocodile statues at the entrance . It was a bit of a walk to reception/breakfast BUT it was a fantastic location at the end of a the day as you could enter and exit the hotel from a door that is right next to the exit turnstiles of the park.

And the wander through the corridor to breakfast each morning was actually really nice - it's not just a corridor, it's a DLH corridor

Great stuff, thanks guys! We'll be coming in on the Eurostar, am I right in thinking we'll have to go through security to get to the DLH? Surely they won't ask to search our suitcases?! Or will they?

Talking of which, is the route from the station to the DLH reception easy enough? Anyone care to gift me some idiot-proof directions? Sounds daft but we're notorious for walking twenty minutes when we really could have walked twenty seconds, we never have much luck with that kind of thing....

Yes - you'll be checking through the usual front gates to the parks, it's a requirement I'm afraid.
Just come out or the station and turn right for the parks. Go through the large Disneyland Park archways and choose the scanner queue. Walk to the right again towards guest services. Just before you'll see the doors on your right (spinning door and two automatics either side) and you'll be in reception It's easy!

I'm planning on bringing a travel kettle (as plenty of folk have mentioned the lack of such a thing in the DLH) and a stash of cereal bars,etc. Will security kick off about this?!?

Not at all. I had a travel kettle in June, a coolbag which leaked ice water all over the carpet before I realised and which I had to soak up with a towel and nobody said a word. I also brought a light 4 gang extension which I plugged into my travel adapter so I could charge phone and camera battery at same time as boiling kettle. Great tip I saw on TA forum.

Oops - sorry, you mean the security at the scanner - posted too quickly. I shouldnt think so - they don't let you through with alcohol as you're not allowed to bring it into the parks but can't see them worrying about a travel kettle in a suitcase.

security is there for offensive weapons (and alcohol), they are not there for electrical items or food .

It doesn't bother me as it's not far too walk, but it does amaze me that the poshest of the DLP hotels is the only hotel that you can't get bus from the station to that will drop you off near reception, but that you have to trundle your luggage to round to it on foot!!

But when I asked (when we were there in Feb 2010) I was told no, but that coffee, tea etc could be ordered from room service. Not at those prices!!
