So i have been lurking this AMAZING DISBOARDS! for a long time now... and i am finally excited to announce that i finally get to plan my own trip to Disneyland! I have gone once before in Oct 2007 with my family! but.....

I am planning my Disneyland Honeymoon for May 9th-16th! Yippee! We will be driving from Salt Lake City to Anaheim on the 9th...:drive:... then we are a little up in the air about the rest of the plans. We are using the Bride's Family's timeshare to stay at the Peacock Suites in Anaheim... Anyone know if they are any good? But i want to spend 4 days minimum at DL/DCA we want to go to the beach one day... and contemplating Universal Studios. but for the cost of both the DL and Universal tickets we could get a Deluxe annual pass...

which would come in handy if we go with her family later in the year ( they are planning a trip but i don't know when...)
:cool1:
So i would LOVE the help of you DISboarders in helping me plan the Best Disney Dream Honeymoon Ever! How is that for Celebrating with Disney? :rotfl2:

I don't know anything about the place you are staying but just wanted to say Congratulations! DH and I will be celebrating our 20th anniversary at DLR in June. :) Wishing you many more years of celebrating at DLR! :goodvibes

Personally, I'd skip Univeral and go for the pass, but that's just me. :rotfl: I'm sure Univeral is interesting too, but I haven't been since I was about 12 years old. I just can't tear myself away from DLR if I'm down there.

I don't know anything about the place you're staying either, but also wanted to say congratulations! I'm sure you will have a wonderful honeymoon!

Oooo don't skip universal! It is awesome! DH and I love disneyland but we always also go to universal and agree every time that it's one of our favorite days and would never skip it! As two adults it is very much worth going!!

So talking to DF we think that instead of Universal we want to go to Knotts Berry Farm! I haven't been and she said it is Awesome so.... We decided that we proabably wouldn't end up going again with her family... getting work off again after getting so much off for the wedding and honeymoon would be too hard... I went to Universal in Oct 2007 and it was Fun! I admit... We'll see nothing is set in stone yet!

Welcome and congrats!

Depending on if you want to return, an AP is certainly an option! In fact, I ended up doing something similar. Was only planning a trip for June, then found out that I could be going for my bday in August, so an AP would turn out to be much cheaper. And I could return anytime after that.

The last time I was in Knotts was Dec. '04. Truth be told, it lags behind Universal and DLR and has gone down a little over the years, but it's good for one day's fun.

I've heard Knotts has good coasters, though. I would go there first before Disneyland.

We are getting two years vacation out of our APs. We went last summer in July and are going this June. If we got APs again, we would probably wait until summer in order to get two more years out of it. As teachers, we can't get away during off times but have all of summer off. :)

Kinda OT here. My wife and I went to WDW for a pre-wedding vacation to take a break from the planning but treated it like a honeymoon trip since our wedding was less than a month away. I was pleasantly surprised by the attention we recieved from CMs after picking up a Mickey Top hat for me and a Minnie Veil for my wife. Everything from special recognition during meals to little perks like getting a private boat on POTC (Didn't even ask for that one, the CM saw us, immedietly asked us to stand to the side at the landing and the next boat that came up, she gave us by ourselves. It was my wife's 1st time on POTC as well pirate: ).

I would assume that due to their celebrate theme this year, even more kinds of perks will pop up for the OP and his bride on their trip. I highly recommend getting the top hat and veil ;)

:goodvibes AWWW Congrats! You are going to have such a great time. For sure get the top hat and veil for the 2 of you when you go. What a great way to celebrate.

I am going to say Universal over Knotts. Knotts is dirty and has gone down the tube in the last few years. Granted yes if you like thrill rides then it is a good place to go. I just like Universal because of the Universal City walk and also Universal has hyped up cool graphic rides and tons of photo opts.

Hello, I think I can help. Me and my wife had our Honeymoon in San Diego and we did Disneyland of course, so here is what I can offer for advise.

When at Disneyland going into the gates or ticket booths make sure to tell them you're there on your Honeymoon. They will give you a JUST MARRIED button to wear and all day long cast members will congratulate you and youll be treated great all over.

As for Universal, I would say don't go. We also went there. BORING. We got there at 9am when it opened, and by 2pm we had seen every show, did the tram tour, went on every ride, and saw everything there was to see.

You should go to Sea World though, San Diego is about an hour drive south of Anaheim.

You could also go to the Queen Mary.

Hollywood is cool to check out, they have a tour there in Hollywood called the Dearly Departed Tour. You can look them up online to book tickets. It sounds a bit morbid but from all the tours I have done in Hollywood this is the one tour that gives you real facts about the history of Hollywood. It is really great. We got to go and eat at Boardeners, which is a place where the late great Ed Wood hung out.

All in all, just bypass Universal, it's really a let down.

My DH and I did the exact same thing you guys are doing except we left from Provo. We decided to get the APs though since we moved to St George right after the honeymoon. How could we not? With only a 6 or 7 hour drive and the husband working four 10 hour days it was too good to pass up. We had a great year with multiple trips. We didn't renew this year since we're going to WDW in April, but we hope to get them again in October.

I think the best part about having the APs was that we didn't feel compelled to do the parks commando style. We knew we'd be back and took our time. I don't think we got to the parks before 10 AM once and we were there for a week! It was nice to be able to absorb the park instead of trying to do everything.

I haven't been to Knott's in years, but I have always enjoyed it. My parents took my brother and sisters this last year and they loved it. But they love the coasters.

I think whatever you decide on will be a blast. Just take a lot of pictures and don't be afraid to ask others to take them of you both together. We have a lot of pictures of just one of us or the extended arm take a picture of ourselves.

Thanks for all your guys' feedback! So we ended up having to change our plans around a bit... So we will be staying at the Hampton Inn and Suites instead... and decided that we will probably just do Disneyland... except one day we would like to go to the beach. :cool1:

Where would the best beach that is fairly close be? :beach: maybe with some shops and restaurants nearby... I will have my own car since we are driving there.

All your comments are Much Appreciated!

Congrats to you both! I was going to tell you that we have stayed at the Peacock 3 times in the past and we have 3 more stays planned this year. We like it, it's a nice place to stay. Not our first choice but with time share points it's free so we are doing it. After our May trip we are out of points forever (we bought into an explorer deal so we could try it before we bought it, we aren't buying it) so no more Peacock for us, unless we can get a really great deal on a room. :)

Anyway, you can get your 'Just Married' buttons at City Hall as well as at the ticket booths. Make sure you get those and the top hat and veil are soooooo cute!! I love those too. :)

Yea we were originally going to stay at the peacock but her parents called to use their timeshare and they didn't have anymore availability so they are letting us use their Hilton points to stay at the Hampton Inn and Suites for 4 nights and then we are just paying for the extra couple nights there too.

Most folks like Huntington Beach or Newport Beach. Both are fairly close (per se) and have a very upscale feel to them - because they are upscale communities. They have lots of great dining and shopping in those areas, too.

Universal here is definitely not the same as Florida, so it's a bit odd for some folks. I personally can't find enough there to keep me busy for a whole day, although City Walk is nice. We go there occasionally when folks come from out of town. (We live 3 miles or so from there.)

Might I suggest as a treat, to book a meal at Steakhouse 55 at the DLH or the Napa Rose at the GCH, as a romantic celebration night.

Happy honeymoon! (We got married at the GCH in 2001, so Disneyland is very romantic for us.)
