I have been to Disneyland twice and my husband has never been. I was thinking of surprising him next October and bring him to California instead of Florida, which is where we usually go for Disney. Can anyone help with the "things to do," and "must do restaurants" of Disneyland. Are there special events or anything I should be looking into? Fantasmic seating, dessert parties, etc? I appreciate any help! Thanks!

The only DVC resort is the Grand Californian, though you can probably use points for one of the other hotels too. I'd stick with the grand.

I would really focus on all the things DL has that DW does not (like Matterhorn, Mr. Toad, World of Color, Blue Bayou) and also make sure to hit the rides that are much better than their MK versions (Space, POTC, Fantasyland).

For dining, Blue Bayou is a must!

Mickey's Halloween Party goes on in October.

There is a Fantasmic Desert Package. It's no like the Wishes dessert party.
You get a box of desserts and seats to view from.

Thank you everyone for your thoughts and suggestions! I really appreciate it! We have a year so if you have any other thoughts along the way feel free to pass it along!! Thanks!

Also which resort is best to stay in using DVC!?
Thanks!

We are DVC members and just got back from DLR. You have to keep in mind the VGC only have 48 DVC rooms, spread over all room sizes, so it can be a challenge getting what you want when you want. This is especially true if you are going during any special events, etc.

We used our DVC points last month to stay at PP just because we'd never stayed there before, and because the VGC were completely booked. We have another trip scheduled for next year where we are staying at VGC, but we own there now and booked at the 1 month date.

If you can plan it out so you can call either at 11 months (if you own there) or at the 7 month window (if you don't) it's a big big plus given the small resort size.

But you CAN use your points for the DLH or the PP and you don't even have to pay the $95 fee as you would with WDW hotels.

If you can into the VGC I would highly recommend it. It is the E Ticket resort of the three Disney hotels at DLR.

Good luck!

WOW! Perfect! Thanks for all of the DVC advice! I really needed it! I'll try for the GC, but if I can't get it, which of the other hotels do you prefer?

We have used our DVC points to stay at DLH (LOVE IT!), our next trip will be our first say at the Grand Californian.

We love eating at Ralph Brennan's for breakfast (beignets, yum!!), lunch and dinner!

I can't thank you guys enough! I feel like I'm pretty well versed at the "World"! The "Land" however, uncharted territory for me!
