Disneyland Halloween Half Marathon Weekend 2025 (September 4-7)

Saw a complaint about how the second half has a lot of out-and-back, which seems fair, looks like this is meant to reduce quite a few road closures in the area. Roads are wide enough to handle it, doesn't look like its in residential areas, so hopefully they can get some crowd support and entertainment out there.
I saw someone mentioned the out and back is a good place to cut the course if they need to with high temps. I wasn’t at DL for Halloween races last year, and I’m keeping my fingers crossed there won’t be a heat wave.

Last year was the single hottest start to finish race weekend I've ever run. I ran Dopey 2020 and was on the course when they shortened it, but it felt like the rest of that race weekend was nice.

Last year's Halloween race weekend stayed hot the entire time. Which did make for much lower crowds after the races, but it was extremely hot out there. I don't know how close they came to cutting the course for the half. I've seen some anecdotal reports that they were changing the flag conditions at the end, but I never heard actual reports of shortening the course.

I know they did shorten the Disneyland 5K course last January, but that was due to needing to clear the parks out as opposed to weather. Basically, I was in line for Mickey and Minnie in their superhero shirts and they told us that Groot was at Mission: Breakout for a photo and that the balloon ladies were in Galaxy's Edge. We were informed that if we wanted certain photos, we were absolutely risking having the course shortened. I read reports of people in the very back of the pack being disappointed and upset they they shortened the course. Basically, instead of going through Hollywood Land, Avengers Campus, and Carsland, they had runners keep going straight past those lands.

I actually love out and backs. It’s what I train with cause mentally it breaks up the miles well for me. I also like seeing the fast runners go by the other way during races. For this course, I dont know that area outside the parks at all so not sure what to expect. I am happy to see more park time compared to the course in January.
I initially was not a fan of the out and back section, but now that you mention it, one of my favorite parts of the marathon/princess half course is watching the runners on the other side of World Drive.

Hello all! Super excited to be coming to Disneyland for the first time for the Halloween Half. Can someone break down how the corrals work? I ran the WDW Princess Half in February and each corral had multiple releases (giving us in the last corral a little bump from the balloon ladies if you got there early enough). Does Disneyland do the same thing? Is there an advantage to being there super early? Any other tips for how Disneyland runs are different than WDW are greatly appreciated!

It's less about an advantage to being there super early, DL uses older metal detectors in security and as a result the lines to get through to the start village are significantly longer. So you'll want to be there early if possible.

Cant speak to more recent races but IIRC they let people out pretty quickly for the DL races I did in 2024. My sense is that there’s more pressure to get people through and out of the parks.

There will be total 9 corrals from A to I, and they will release each corrals after each 5 minutes, which mean if you in the last corral, you will start 45 minutes after the actual start time. Try to get there early because the last race I were there, it took about 10 minutes to go through security.

do you learn what corral you are in on your bib at the expo?

Only done one RunDisney and that was Marathon at WDW. But they will send you and email with the packet pickup info shortly before the expo. It'll have your bib and starting corral in it.

Correct.

This used to be the case, but the expo pass no longer includes your bib assignment, only your number. As others have said, there are ranges bantered about and you may have some idea of where your number might place you, but you won't know for sure until you have your bib in hand. Be sure to check it and see runner relations right then and there if you think they've made a mistake.

If enough people list their bib # range AND POT/pace estimate you might be able to get a good feel on where you should be but IIRC for this weekend there hasn't been enough data to work with and some people weren't listing their POT/pace, just bib #. What you listed for POT/pace is the more important thing though.

Big question is how the new <7 min and 7-8 min pace estimates will impact the 5k and 10k corrals. <7 min corral SHOULD be very small, less than 100 people, but... I'm curious how this will go.
