Does anyone know how to go about registering for this? The website reads it is at capacity, but something about registering through different organizations. Any help would be appreciated!
Thanks
Stephanie :goodvibes

I haven't heard or seen any other way of registering but you might want to search or post this topic over on the Events/Competitions boards and someone there might have an answer for you. Good luck!

What they mean is if you go through an organization like Team in Training, or there are several others that are similar. As a member you get training & regsitration for the race, but you have to raise a good bit of money for the cause. TNT "holds" a certain amount of slots for the race & gets to register later. Its great to do if you can raise the money.

Hi, Stephanie. I am looking into the exact same thing. I just got back from WDW and running the Minnie 15K and am now psyched that I can do this! I want to do the DL 1/2 but am concerned about all the little details. We live in the midwest so it will be quite a trip if I go and do it. And then when I went on the website and read that it was full......but I clicked the link and looked at the different organizations you can help sponsor. There were 3 charitable ones and then one where you pay a fee to train (can't remember the name of it.) So I think there is a good chance you could get in if you want to. I will be interested in what you decide to do since I am contemplating this too. I've actually been looking at flights and hotel rooms tonight on Expedia. Not bad prices, but should I do it?? :)

Race registration is now available via Anthony Travel. In order to qualify for the race registration you will need to purchase the runner's package including a two-night reservation and one-day one-park ticket.

Stephanie---I ended up signing up with the Muscular Dystrophy Team--Run for Our Sons. I have been very pleased so far. I registered just last week and have already received a packet of info and have set up my website. I'm very excited to be doing this FOR someone too. Let me know if you have decided to go run and what team you are with. I've booked hotel but don't have flights yet.

I admire anyone who can run any kind of marathon!!!!! I feel like such a loser after reading these posts :guilty: I should have clarified myself a little better. I am actually inquiring for my cousin who lives in San Diego and is a runner, I might add. He asked me if I could find out any info on it since I am the Disney fanatic. He thought I might have some connections! :teeth:
I do some walking, but running has never been for me! I run a few blocks and feel like I am going to die! :rotfl2:
Thank you all for the information and I will pass it on to my cousin.
Good Luck to all who participate! :cheer2: :cheer2: :cheer2:

I am excited to be part of this new event. Fortunately I got signed up early. Having completed the Walt Disney World once, and the Goofy Challenge this past January I am excited for this new event. I am also signed up for the 5K the day before because my sister couldn't get into the half marathon. :thumbsup2

Would love to trade training schedules etc.

Steph---Don't feel bad at all. To be honest, I feel old and fat but I'm telling myself I can do this! Running is not for everyone. And I wouldn't say I "run" anymore--maybe "jog" is the better word! If you want to help out though---consider clicking on my links. (not sure if I'm allowed to say that) but before I started running again I supported a gal who had never run before in her life and was very overweight and she trained to do a marathon. I really give her a LOT of credit. She ran for the American Heart Association Team. Anyhow..hope your cousin can do it someday. Thanks for asking!

Hey Steph, I am a walker and I have completed two half marathons. WDW in January and the Capital City Classic is Columbus in April. I'm going to walk a half in Chicago in August, and the DL half in Sept. There are a lot of participants who walk exclusively. For the Disney events you have to be able to maintain a 16 minute/mile pace, which is a lot faster than just a stroll, but it is very doable. I had a blast in WDW and love my Donald medal.

That is so great! :thumbsup2 I didn't know that you could walk them. My friend I walk, but we go in spurts. I haven't done much walking this past several months, mostly due to weather! I guess I would be considered a fair weathered walker! I need to get back at it. I have never timed our walks, so I don't know how fast I walk a mile. That is something to consider in the future! Thanks for the info and the encouragement!
