Disneyland Half Marathon 2024

I sent an email a few weeks ago asking if they could please post a pic of the jacket/tee preorder bundle if they had one, thinking maybe they had just never gotten around to updating the page. I got the hilarious response that there is no preorder merchandise whatsoever for sale for the Disneyland 1/2 marathon weekend.
I think they just hit a stock response based on buzzwords in your message. For instance, for W&D I sent a message asking for clarification on when the virtual queue would open for the runDisney merchandise because the event guide contradicted itself in two separate places (one page said 7:30, the other said 8:30). I got a stock email back apologizing for me not being able to register for the race and also explaining how the queue works on race registration day and encouraging me to reach out to charities to see if I could secure a bib since the event was sold out. I responded that they apparently never even read my message and never heard back..... 🤣

Probably using an AI bot for these types of questions ..... or a repurposed audio-animatronic.

I have a Disney World AP with the PhotoPass option, so I haven't been thinking much about photos for runDisney, but I just realized that most likely does me no good for this Disneyland event weekend. How much would photos usually cost, for all 3 race days? If I get a park ticket with Genie+, it looks like that includes photos, so would that also cover the race for that same day? Thanks!

Edit: I also see there's a $78 "Disney PhotoPass+ One Week" option, which I assume would work as well. Is that what people usually do?

We are about to hit the restaurant window reservation.
When do you guys think half marathon will be done and I will be good to go for Breakfast or Brunch at Storytellers Cafe afterword's?
If we were to assume a 6:00pm start time for the balloon ladies and then 3 1/2 hours for them to finish the race, you're looking at 9:30am. Historically, runDisney has had very few photo opportunities after the race(s) and to the best of my knowledge no characters ever before or after the race(s).

You also want to factor in just how long you will spend with cool down and/or just being in the post race area to meet up with family/friends/runners. And then how long will it take you to likely walk back to your hotel, shower, change, and then get back to the DLR.

So if I were estimating a 9:30am finish, I would not have an ADR until 11:00am at the earliest and even then I would want to factor in how far away from the parks I'm staying. I typically stay right across from the main entrance on Harbor. It's a longer walk to and from the race staging area (15-20 minutes), but my tradeoff is the 5 minute walk to the parks.

I think it's a good bet that this will happen but I don't know that it's been confirmed, we’ll probably find out when the race guide is published. I'm not even sure race photos were tied into MDE last time they had a race there, think they had been using an outside vendor for race photos.

Since our dining reservations are about to open for us lets do a fun post on what everyone is trying for....

I will start first:
Thursday: nothing
Friday: Try for Tiki room flexible just needs to be before 8pm
Saturday: Great Maple if open if not Goofy
Sunday: Brunch Storytellers Cafe and World of Color Dessert Party
Monday: Nothing

No plans. I generally never do TS. The most I may try to do is "walk in and sit at the bar"....as soon as I figure out where I may be able to do that. Tiana's looked sort of interesting--and since I ate at Dookie Chase in New Orleans last fall, it might be interesting to close the loop and see how they do with the food. (Pictures in the lobby at Dookie Chase from the Disney people)

I just got an email that might be useful if you're bringing kids with you to Disneyland. Not sure if I can name the website but the frog-themed ticket seller has three day, one park per day, kids tickets for $226 (advertised as a savings of $228). The tickets are valid Jan 8 - March 10, 2024.

I'll be traveling solo so no real ADRs for me, but QS and Denny's for breakfast after yoga Thursday. For those coming from Eastern and even Central time, there's a Denny's and an IHOP on Harbor that are open 24/7 if you wake up early. The hotel I'm staying at has complimentry breakfast starting a 7, but since I'm an early bird, a hot breakfast hits the spot between 5-6am, when you're not running.

I’m very curious about Blue Bayou but no idea how quickly reservations fill up for that one, particularly on a weekend where they’re getting a lot of non-locals coming in.
Blue Bayou typically fills up extremely fast when ADR windows open. I only got to eat there on my trip in February because I set an alert and was quick enough to snag it. It's so worth it though, probably my favorite meal I've ever had on a Disney property.
